Why is it a surprise? People(like myself) sold stuff on eBay back in D2. It isn't going to stop. Even if Blizzard didn't implement this in house auction, people will still take it through eBay. Blizzard is just trying to make money.

I think it's awesome that people can sell things they earned in a video game, and I don't even own D2 or D3. I would actually prefer it if blizzard weren't involved and getting a piece of the action. I kinda don't like the idea that Blizzard is promoting the sale of items over their system so they can get a piece of the money. I'd rather it just be a totally free-market idea where people make their own listings and post on ebay or anywhere else.

Sure, one can come up with all types of rationalizations for why it's good/bad that they are taking 15%. I just dislike it. I'd much prefer to see people just selling their goods out in the open with other people making deals they think are fair. But of course, at any rate I have no problem with people doing what they think is best for themselves, to include people selling their goods on Blizzard's system if that is what they wish to do.

I can honestly say I'm not real big fan of this but the other half of me is like "shut up, this could be a way to snag extra money for PC stuff"..... so, yea I'd prob be doing this to make extra money, far as 15% goes I'm like whatever. Just be like I have been for years with my Job that I don't get paid a lot from. Patiently waiting doesn't bother me, but this will me help getting the last of pc stuff I want a little faster.

Agreed which is why I threw some items up for auction and hopefully can get some extra cash for the summer Steam sale or something.

I am trying for the Blizzard Bucks since I refuse to use PayPal. Oh well. I could try to get a PayPal account so I could make some extra cash for pc parts but it would be a really complicated matter to do so.

Does PayPal still demand a credit card attached in order to receive money and use the money as well? If not then I may go for a PayPal account just for the RMAH.

I am tempted to signup for a PayPal anyways and give this a try. I would love to make money for a new rig. As much as I love the Alienware I kind of want to try my hand at custom building a rig again.

What no one has mentioned is how Blizzard ramped up the demand for gear before opening the RMAH. They basically created a game where the only reasonable way to get gear needed to complete the game is from an auction house. Now that most people are stuck on inferno difficulty, Blizzard will allow you to buy the gear needed with real money. The epitome of corporate greed. Force people to buy gear to complete your game and profit from that. It's genius.

Blizzard came out and admitted that the gear drop system is screwed up and as such plans to fix it. As it stands right now the gear that drops for each current act actually drops in the next act. It's why people have so much trouble with Inferno soon as they hit Act I.

I bet will see auction houses like this in other games now and a good chance they will added it to blizzard new mmorpg. I can see it now, whole guilds can work together to make $$$ by selling items on AH. when no one wants the loot just right click and select put on AH. Will see reports about guild masters screwing its members over by keeping all the money made.

I have mixed feelings as well... but look at it this way... Blizzard has designed a game where users can play for fun and possibly make extra cash... It genius all around... Sounds like a lot of folks paid for the game and then some... Haven't played D3... but the idea is kinda clever... in a twisted sort of way... It does make you do a double take!!!
