How hard is it just to redirect visitors to a page that says to upgrade your browser? o.O

As someone who does web design on the side i say bravo to that store. I test out the look of my pages on chrome and firefox and make sure they render right, load up IE just to LOL at its failures to render and say screw IE users if it doesn't look right.

Wow I wasn't aware that IE had lost so much of its user base. Chrome has the #1 spot. Guess I'll download it tonight and give it a try.

As a proud user of Firefox, this brings tears of joy to my eyes. Finally, we might be able to get people to stop using Internet Exploder.

I do not and will never understand fanatical loyality to a brand; it is just a browser, who the hell cares? So what some of you had bad experiences and bad luck with IE, does that mean anything to those of us that don't have problems, are we lying or in denial? Are we automatically IE fans for not changing? This is what happens when audacious people get power, they abuse it when they act like their point-of-view should be the only one that matters.

Ah - but the point of the online store's owner in the article has merit. Spending a disproportionate amount of time coding for old browsers is hard to justify. Our team actually cuts off after IE8, so we don't bother coding for those still using IE7 and below, but that was a conscious choice due to not having enough development man-hours to put toward it. I do agree with your point about people being offended about what other people use for browsers... Not sure what that's about.

They aren't doing it because they don't like it, they are doing it to save money AND it's not like they don't support IE, it's IESEVEN which is outdated as all get out. I love it, keep it up, all for it. It's like Microsoft stopping updates for XP...eventually XP won't be supported by anything, but Win 7 will be.

I use Youtube on IE since I cannot on Chrome (won't let me log into my account on Chrome..) the internet is about 20% slower at loading on that browser.

I installed Chrome last night and looked at different sites with Chrome taking one half of the screen and IE9 taking the other half. I was quite surprised. Most sites I use work fine with both but I was very surprised to find some sites show totally different things depending onthe browser. I'll still keep IE9 but I'm gonna keep Chrome too.

Well, from a developers perspective it has some strange quirks... it's not the perfect form-fitting to standards browser MS wants you to believe. IE9 is a good performer though, and definitely a huge step forward for MS. I personally use Chrome for my day-to-day browsing, but that's just due to the convenience of cloud based settings and extensions...

And pardon me, i forgot the thread was about IE7 and not IE 9 or IE in general. I dont think anyone should be using anything but IE 9 if they want IE, though.

this article makes me lol @ their IT dept. this is a classic example of how web devs are today lazy. on the other hand makes one think that they arent smart enough to write script/codes for I.E. whether it be 6,7,8,9. if I was the owner of said company they would be fired because obviously they cant implement or use whats already out there to work with what they have. other companies small and big is/and/or coping and making the necessary adjustments why cant they? I guess they were the kind of students that welcomes a multiple choice test than actually a test that you have to use your wits and work out a problem showing how you get to the answer.

how much experience do you have with web coding rankin? even on my own personal site i've come across quirks with older IE versions and said screw finding ways to support them, get with newer browsers or deal with it. I can agree entirely with that company charging a fee because they had to tie up devs to make workarounds for IE
