Ubuntu issue folding
Sunday, May 27, 2012 9:04 PM

I fired up ubuntu again and got one big beta and another wu for 80k. I notices tonight that it was on mapping 12 of 12 and the screen was frozen. HFM was stuck on 0% I reset the computer and stuck on 12 of 12 again. But when I went in the terminal and tried to restart the client it stated it was already running. Should I let it go and see what happens. If not what are the command lines to stop that wu and get another? Thanks

Its basicly the same as in windows. CTRL- C stops the client in the console window. Otherwise go to Ubuntus "Task Manager" , its called system monitor. You find it under System-Admininstration- System Monitor and kill the process there Then if you really want to delete the wu, go into your fah folder and delete the usual candidates.

There are no command lines to "dump" a WU and get a new one. Personally I think it is corrupt and not going to run. To "reload", stop the client, navigate to my places, go to your folding folder and delete the Work folder, queue.dat and unitinfo file. Or, from a terminal, enter these commands and press enter after each; rm Work; rm queue.dat; rm unitinfo. You will not get a verification they have been deleted, just a new command line. You can verify they have been deleted by entering the command cd fah(if fah is the name of the folder you created for folding) then ls. If you do not see these files listed you were successful. Then restart the client.

Make sure you also "rm machinedependent.dat" or you are very likely to get the same WU again.

I deleted the work folder and looked to get a different wu. I downloaded the wu and stuck on mapping 12 of 12 again. I'm at the fire house today so I won't be able to do anything. I think it was 6904

I had a p6903 WU hang at 0% that other day. Restarted the ./fah6 twice with the same problem. I think I did ./fah6 -queueinfo (Found the WU in Slot 9) ./fah6 -delete 9 and restart the client fixed my issue.

Thanks for the command line guys. It seems that every time I get a 6904 it will hang at the mapping 12 of 12 (I didn't check the gen or run). I did a few reg smp's today with no issues at all so my OC and everything is stable. I put the bigbeta flag on, got another 6904 and it hung and when I mean hung I can't even use the mouse, I have to reset the rig. I deleted the WU from the queue ( thanks bowlinra ) and got a 6903 this time. I got past the mapping section so I think I'm ok for now. What's up with the 6904's is this why they went back to beta?

tank1023 What's up with the 6904's is this why they went back to beta? I've only had one WU hang before the standard O% processing line shows up, it may have been p6904, but ~60% of the WUs have been P6903. I've only seen two P6904 and crushed them both for ~625K points each, about ~386K PPD!

That is a possibility. Unless you delete all the appropriate files; work folder, unitinfo and queue.dat; the client will keep re running the same WU.

My SR-2 isn't locking up completely. But 6904's on it are sticking at the Mapping NT from 16 to 16. Then the machine just sits there. Never does anything. For informational purposes its project 6904 (run 2, Clone 19, Gen 84) Just something to watch for and see if it's a specific unit problem or what not.

I have not been having this problem with the 6904's I have been getting. The only thing I have noted is that the time between one WU finishing to the start of the next WU is 6-8 minutes for the 6901's and 6903's and is around 20 minutes for the 6904's.

I had the same problem and followed this thread, removed the machine id and deleted the WU-slot, got a new one and all is good at the moment. Thanks for the help.
