Virtual Machine Recommendations?

I am running Windows 7 Ulitmate x64 on EVGA x58 system (i7, 12GB RAM). I am looking to find out what others perfer to use when running virtual machines ontop of Windows? Do you use Virtual PC that comes with Win7, or do you prefer something better? - I am looking for Virtal Machine software that provides the best speed for daily use for typical software that is not GPU or CPU intensive. Web browsing, email, MS office, iTunes, toys, utilities, & services that might crash\slow the host system, etc
- The host system is primarily a Gaming system, but occationally I want to use it for typical daily tasks. My intent\goal is to the keep the host OS (Windows7) as clean as I can possiblity keep it. So, unless its gaming related, I want to put nearly everything else in a virtual machine.
- Is "Virtual PC" that comes with windows 7 Ultimate the best option, or are there better options, such VMware, VirtualBox, etc. My focus is on "speed", access to most\all hardware devices, and no redraw problems\flicker.
EVGA x58 Classified, i7 950 @3.0GHz, 12GB DDR3 1600, 2TB Raid mirror, EVGA 480 SLI

Thanks for the links. In the past I have used VPC with satisafactory results. Currently, for technical reason I can't figure out, on my system VPC is significantly slower than VWMare's Workstation. I am guessing that the Virtual PC has some compatility problems with my GPU (NVidia 480, SLI mode) because VPC has terrible redraw problems, such as flickering when any item on the screen moves and VPC can't play back streaming video without major stuttering. VMWare Worktation has none of these problems on my system, and runs extremely fast. Fast enough that I do not notice a speed difference from the host system when doing the basic things I need it to do.

I personally use VMWare Workstation 8, with my x58 setup. I like the fact I can do a nested hypervisor for testing of future setups with it. The drivers and interaction for non 3D tasks in VMWare are pretty rock solid. USB Redirection works really well too. The Virtual PC ones, I have had problems with in the past, USB redirection that is. All in all, I much prefer the VMWare solution over the VPC. It comes down to the fact I do not like VHDs, and that they are IDE only. SCSI VHDs do not play well in HyperV or Virtual PC. YMMV.
