GTX 670 Arifacting, Again.... Saturday, May 19, 2012 8:25 AM (permalink)
So i had to RMA my first GTX 670 because when ever i started up a game i would freeze followed by colorful boxs that filled up my screen. My new GTX 670 seemed to worked perfectly for the first two days, However, after playing BFBC2 for an hour my GPU started to Artifact again. It's not artifacting like the old one did. Now it looks like a bunch black lines flying everywhere on the screen. the game still runs fine and my GPU tems never go above 74C with EVGA Precision X running. this happens in all games.

Gigabyte 990fxa UD3
AMD 1055T @ 3.8GHZ (i've tried to running games at my stock clocks; however, that didn't work either)
Corsair H60 CPU Cooler (temps never go above 45C underload)
Corsair TX650M
Crucial M4 64gb
WD Green 1.5tb
8gb of HP ram @ 1333mhz

Have you try running without precision X? Maybe that's the problem. I'm not running Precision X and my EVGA 670 SC is running like a champ, no artifacts, no tearing, etc.

No, Unfortunately turning off precision didn't do anything.

Sorry to hear all the trouble you have been having. looks as though you got another bad card..... Did EVGA give you a FTW addition or just refurbish the one you RMA'd?

hmm. I got 02G-P4-2672-KR.  The ones that had issues were 02G-P3-2672-KR. Hopefully the model you got don't have issues as well.

Not sure what else to tell you unfortunately. Maybe try different drivers (from the nvidia site, the beta drivers, etc).

that's weird. How come they didn't give you the FTW card? Ask jacob.

I asked already, but apparently only the people who purchased the superclocked model was compensated with the FTW model.

that is a bug in the game!!..I got that to on my 560ti. It especially aprent on caspian border. If what you are describing, (starts of small then bunch of black lines till its unplayable) this is the game and driver issue...not the gtx670.
edit:...oh woops this happens in all your games?? shoot...wow sounds like you got yourself another dud.

Corsair power supply? It probably sucks and that might be ruining your components.

I've tried everything. I've reinstalled the Nvidia drivers twice using driver sweeper (in safe mode). I turned my CPU overclock off. I turned off Precision X. I checked the voltages on my 12v rails on my PSU using "HWmonitor". I checked to make sure the DVI cable was plugged in properly. I've reseated the card and installed it in another pci-e slot and still nothing. the two 6pins are connected properly as well. At first i was beginning to think it was my motherboard; however, when i reinstalled my old card it worked flawlessly. Therefore i'm almost positive it's another faulty card

oh yeah, i have the latest BIOS

Dang,  It sucks when your new toy gives you fits.  I hope it gets sorted out.  Even if it is the card EVGA will get you fixed up.

yeah that really bites. The only postive thing about this is that EVGA is the best in the buisness for service so they will take care of you! I too have a vanilla replacment on the way. Man I bet Evga is not happy with Nvidia. Bad chip screening, and evga has to pay the price.

Corsair power supply? It probably sucks and that might be ruining your components.

That's what happened to my 580 that went back for RMA... wait, the AX1200 is one of the highest rated PSU's... Conspiracies, conspiracies... There is nothing wrong with Corsair PSU's.

OP, I would ask for a cross-shipment this time... They owe you that much for all the hassle.

The warranty is 3 years, if that is what you're asking. The 500 series was lifetime, but the 600 series are all KR (3 years)... at least if he is from the U.S.. He might have got something else if he is from another country.
