genkifd Should be a package deal "GTX 680 Classfied & EVBOT" for $699.99 USD. That would be nice. And the Pass it Forward would be kinda neat too, but I'm assuming that since I'm going all out this time, there will eventually be a 780 Classified that will probably need the EVBot too, so may as well hang onto it.

hawk269 Johnny_Utah At least the EVbot appears to control up to 3 devices + your mobo. So the extra 100 bucks only applies to the first card if you are purchasing more. Not a HUGE saving but you must factor this in. Only devices that have the Evbot port. So nice try in attempting to make the sting of buying this device easier on people, but bottom line is that Evbot is only compatible with Evbot Supplied Mobo's and GPU's. If it is like the 580, once the voltage is set and tested on the GPU, it is saved internally and there is no need to use it again. Perhaps we should all pitch in $20.00 bucks and buy 2 of them and just pass it around as we get our cards? I love Evga as I said before and only recommend Evga and only buy Evga, but I have no issues sticking it to them with this idea of "pass it forward". Building a card that requires "something" else to achieve what the card was made to do and charging $99.99 for said item is robbery/low/greedy and other terms I can't think of right now. Oh yes, I understand that. What I was saying is that you don't add 100 bucks onto the price of EACH Classy you purchase, that's all. After all, the Classifieds all come with EVbot ports, that's all that matters. I wasn't implying that you could use it on future purchases;) Basically: First card: 759 + Tax Second card 659 + Tax Third card 659 + Tax Again, it's still VERY expensive! I agree with you wholeheartedly, this thing should be discounted with a purchase of a 680 Classy quite certainly!

GOOD GRIEF dude, if you want to OC you can OC just like any other 680. If you want to over volt you need EV bot. Can't be explained any simpler than that, you've asked several times.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, this thing should be discounted with a purchase of a 680 Classy quite certainly! True. You only need one and it would be a one time purchase. But the asking price for this device (I had one) is pretty outrageous. I mean the nicest thing about it was the packaging/box to be honest. Sleeved cables were nice as well. But a $100.00 is just a bit too much for what it is. Like I mentioned above, since software voltage control is not an option (which is odd since they made precision X and they have a voltage option...just saying) and these cards were made/designed to be voltage tweaked, you would think a solution "OTHER" than saying "oh, you want to add more voltage...that will be an extra $100.00"...would of been thought of. Or perhaps this was all by design. Knowing that only the enthusiast will buy this card and knowing that they would want to tweak the voltage, they kind of planned that they could make more money making this card and make even more profit selling Evbot with it?

Still though, and I'm not saying I'm not disappointed in EVGA's decision to require EVBot, but this is EVGA we're talking about. They make quality products with incredibly sleek designs and have second to none customer service. And I know I've said this before a few times, but its how I feel about them, so I suppose I don't mind paying the extra $100. They're nVidia's #1 distributor for a reason, and the premiums we have to pay more than up for the brash quality of service and disappointment I read about from other brands ten-fold...heh

I agree, a rebate option on an EVbot would be an awesome way for EVGA to show dedication to classy buyers. I have no reason to buy a classy if I'm not overvolting it beyond software limits... I don't see how others would either. Also, the package idea isn't that crazy, with 1 purchase per household limits, nobody is going to be buying 4 off the bat anyways.

EVBOT requirement is kinda disappointing but it maybe nvidia's fault. The Asus DCuII cards also require an external device (ROG mobo) to manipulate voltage. Seems like a pattern. My theory is that nvidia never intended gk104 to be enthusiast product, and as such designed with very little tolerance for overvolting - hence the stringent voltage control via drivers/hardware, which can only be overriden with external devices.

Hm, interesting. Apparently the MSI 680 Lightning can do above reference software voltage control through MSI afterburner (card has a built-in voltage regulator add-on [Built-in EVBOt if you will]) and retail price is $549. Good news for those of us who have been naughty and bought a EVGA vanilla 680 on release day and are banned from purchasing the Classified.

Most likely yes, but it is still being worked on: http://www.guru3d.com/art...80-lightning-review/25 Full review there but I linked the page that references the OCing in particular. There is no software voltage control yet, but they hope to have it working soon. This is a 2GB card. Looks promising! I'm still shooting for 2-3 Classifieds.

From what little I've heard Nvidia is going to bring out a compute version first. Then they might bring out a consumer card if they feel they need to. GK110 is supposed to be a beast at compute, I haven't seen a lot of talk about how much of an improvement it'll be for graphics over current gen, so that's still up in the air.

GK110 won't be for the GeForce market, this is a Tesla unit only it's for K10 & K20, GK114 is the one you seek if looking for the Highest End Kepler. But still GK110 will be lots more powerful than GK114 when it comes to pure compute rendering performance. As far as I know, GK114 is a simplified variant of GK110 and a refresh of GK104.
