Stepping up from 680-685?

Hi there, I searched but didn't find the answer to this hypothetical question. Is it possible to step up from a gtx 680 SC+ (GK104) to a reference gtx 685 (GK110)? From what I know, they are two separate chipsets, but does it count as two separate GPUs? This is all assuming that a reference gtx 685 comes out within the next 90 days... It would be awesome if I got some help on this. It make or breaks the purchase I just made! Thanks!

For the 685 we currently do not have any available information to provide on non-released products at this time. If a higher performing card did come out within the first 90 days of purchase and it was on the Step-Up list to be Stepped-Up to then you would be able to do it as long as the 680 SC+ was eligible for the Step-Up Program. GPU types is not a factor. Please See our Step-Up, Warranty, and Extended Warranty pages for more info on the Step-Up and what would be eligible.

685? I have never even heard of the card. Nvidia is having a hard time producing enough 680's I doubt you see any 685 for another 6 months if it even exits.
