Great... good to know, today i RMA'd an Asus Rampage Formula IV MB (DOA), so i wanted to go for another brand, and EVGA its first in my list, but right now I don't know what to do...

I think im going to stay with the FTW... but i can find the Formula IV cheaper.
Hope they fix all the problems with a Bios update... at least their trying right?

Yeah, the effort is good to know.  Hopefully they figure it out soon.  It's probably hard to get priority with vendors as EVGA vs ASUS -- especially when ASMedia is an ASUS subsidiary.
Intel Core i7 3930K - 4.7 GHz  |  ASUS Rampage IV Extreme  |  8x4GB G.Skill Ripjaws Z DDR3-2133
2x EVGA GTX 680  |  BenQ XL2420TX - 1920x1080 120Hz LCD  |  Logitech G9x  |  Corsair Vengeance 1500
5x Crucial 128GB SSD / Samsung 1TB HDD  |  LG BD-R Drive  |  Danger Den Torture Rack  |  Enermax Galaxy EVO 1250W

The FTW is a great board. Have no issues with it. Even the USB 3.0 works for me but after some of my own risk updates of firmware. Crucial tracers again not in the list of compatibility work without question.

XMP profile 1 used not manual.

Only issue i have is that when i SLI my LED onboard temperature/debug indicator gets blocked. Unlike the classified placement.

I'd be a troll? I spent € 390 for a product without support anyone cares to give concrete answers, and especially a release date for the new bios. And I'd be a troll? No need to talk to acronyms, are the same troll using acronyms, greetings :)

You need an ISO image to burn a disk like you want.  But as far as I know there is no ISO file available to update with. It is possible to make a bootable CD, google for that.  Or you can just use the USB flash drive method. The file you need is dependent on the motherboard you have.

why you want to burn it to a dvd and waste the disc ?

just use a usb flashdrive or just run it from windows.

so the only file on the newly formatted usb (yeah I forked over 19.99) is the fptdos file from the bios file if booting from bios startup?

This thread by Lvcoyote give you the full rundown on how to flash BIOS from a bootable USB.

                            Alastair666,

In one thread I read all 22 of your highly insightful posts.

Do you think demanding an answer is going to get you anywhere? If you would spend less time demanding answers, and more time helping to trouble shoot the x79, there might be more progress in getting a solution for all of us.

Please stop posting useless demands. This forum is full of people who like you have spent money on NEW technology. You obviously do not have any patience, nor consideration for anyone but yourself.

Please stop spamming this forum with your useless posts.

I wasn't referring to you, your questions about flashing the bios were actually good questions. I post on an iPad, and it dosent like to "quote" the post which I am referring too.

I apologize if you thought I was referring to you.

So what happened to bios 38? Thread doesn't open, and is not available as download in support. Should go back to 37?

If yours is working fine than no need to worry, we had a few complaints about some users not being able to flash it properly so we pulled it down as a precautionary as we check it out.

BIOS 038 made my UEFI install of Windows 8 on my Revodrive unbootable. I can't enable/find "Windows Boot Manager" as a boot option no matter what I do in my BIOS now, and selecting the Revodrive as my boot drive just puts me on a black screen with a blinking cursor, I reckon it only tries the older non-UEFI startup in that case. Which won't work when I have a UEFI OS installed.

The new 038 also appears as 037 in my BIOS configuration in the "BIOS Version" field which says: "E779 0.37 x64". However, the "Build Date and Time" field says: "07/04/2012 13:33:03". The USB beep option exists and other features clearly tells the tale that it is indeed the new 038 BIOS.

The loud and annoying beeps during boot of my computer is gone, I like that. I had been thinking about requesting it's removal. Thank you.

My Corsair K90 keyboard still does not work properly with this BIOS.

Back to my main issue, you really need to enable some kind of manual switch to use UEFI for any type of hard drive. USB drives always make "UEFI: USB Hard Drive" appear in my BIOS, but it never shows something like that for my SATA drives or most importantly, my Revodrive. The boot option "Windows Boot Manager" used to magically appear after I had used a UEFI enabled USB drive to boot with, now that is no longer the case.

I tried booting with my other BIOS which still had 037 on it, but I still cannot get back my UEFI boot for my Revodrive. This is very frustrating, I clearly should have waited with upgrading to 038. I have a very expensive, and practically unusable computer at the moment. At least unusable in the sense that I cannot boot my main system.

Please fix this as soon as possible. Thank you.

Since I still have USB problems, I am considering moving to 38, but a bit scared after all my other issues.

I updated to 38 this evening. I continue to have issues with the USB ports similar to 37 and versions before 37. In one case this evening, the USB 3.0 ports were non-functional and appeared to not have power or sufficient power.
