Z68 SLI and 2600k High Temps
Sunday, April 29, 2012 6:44 PM

I had another thread about high temps with my H100 and 2600K, I switched out my h100 with the stock cooler, and temps are still high. 45c idle and high 70s under load. The clocks are set at default. I dont dare to OC with temps like this. I ordered a custom water cooled setup, but in order to get everything perfect for the new setup, I have tried everything to get the temps down. Steps I have taken so far are: - Tried different TIMS (AS5, EVGA Frostbite and Intels Stock TIM) all have the same result
- Reinstalled Windows
- Reset CMOS (even with battery removed) and Flashed BIOS to latest version.
- Ensured HS was installed correct.
- Loaded Defaults
- Ensured no dead air pockets in case by doing a fog test. Airflow is perfect.
Does anyone know of anyway to get this fixed???? Is it possible the board is bad, or the chip?

Is that the board temp or RealTemp program giving you those readings?

Board Temp is matching CPU-Z and RealTemp.

post some screenshots of e-leet monitoring page, aida64 computer->sensor page, etc. have you checked if something (maybe NF200 if your board has it, or VREG or mosfets) is running hot right below or around the cpu and heats it up? if not the cpu itself is running hot, then something around it is.

Can you try that chip in a different board, possibly a friend's or family member?

45C idle, your profile states you are in Florida. My question is what is the ambient room temperature, and the internal case temperature. Basically I want to discern what the idle and load deltas from ambient are. My ambient temperature is around 28C. My 2500k at 4.8ghz at 1.375 vCore idles around 10-12C above ambient. 100% Load is around 40-45C above ambient.

AC is always kicking As you can see in images above, temps in case are mid 30s. CPU is much higher. Under full load, i hit the 80s

One thing I forgot to mention. At the time that the idle temps images were taken, it was 66F in the house.

That is very high cpu temp in deed, nothing else gets hot enough to justify it, unless its something unmonitored. Also, your +12v reads very low in e-leet, only 10.47...
