I am oc'ing my i5 2550k and for a 5.0ghz clock right now I am at about 1.5v and my highest temp so far is 72, do I really need to be worried?

i had my 2500k running in that range for a few months ( temp and voltage wise ) and rest of its 10 months lifespan 4.7 @ 1.45 volts it died after 10 months so i would HIGHLY advice not doing that 24/7 buy the intel tunning plan warranty just in case 20 bucks you get brand new one if it dies http://click.intel.com/tuningplan/

I personally don't feel comfortable exceeding 1.35v for 24/7 for these 32nm processors. It definitely won't last at 1.5v.

Will LLC give more reliable voltage for an oc because on my mobo you can only enable or disable, or set it to auto. When you enable it, supposedly it can give up to .1v extra. Any suggestions?

Any suggestions? LLC is recomended at regular or medium regular its by intel's spec regular just pushes the voltage up under heavy load i have my asus board on medium ( 2nd settings)

LLC tries to disable the effects of Vdroop and even out the voltage. By default the CPU voltage will droop under load as recommended by Intel so that when the CPU load drops, there isn't a high voltage spike from load to idle before the CPU voltage regulators have a chance to catch up.

Hey so in real temp one of my cores is between 4-6 degrees cooler than the rest...do I just need to tighten my block or loosen it somewhere, suggestions?

That is normal. The ' temp sensors ' were never designed for this purpose and aren't very accurate. Poor TIM application makes little difference since the heat spreader between the cores and the heatsink ( the thing you are spreading the thermal paste on ) will effectively maintain relatively even core temperatures on its own.

Ahhh alright cool ,and idk if you know anything about my motherboard but overclocking is really weird asus p8p67-m Pro. Anyhow I am at 4.7ghz @ 1.36v. It passed ibt on very high for 10 tests. In the past however while ocing my parts I get a random bsod during a game or exiting one and the code is 0x00000101, any ideas? Thanks for all the help.

4.8 @ 1.36-1.39 (computer says it bounces around :/ I think it is the LLC). Temps highest on one core was 73 for a split second, it is very hot in my room right now but everything I think is okay.

I got my 2550K up to 4.8Ghz at like 1.4v I think on air. It got a bit to hot so I brought it back down to 4.6 where I can play @ 1.29V.

I pass IBT with 50 runs on very high at 4.5ghz and then I will open something or just idle and I will get a BSOD with 0x00000101. What gives?

What power supply are you using to power it? Also what else you have going on? I have been having nothing but great adventures with this 2550K I have. Been running in stable 24/7 @ 4.5 on 1.265Vcore. No bsods yet. "Knock on Wood". Anyhow all I did was disable the power saving options and I only adjusted the Vcore and Multiplier to reach this clock. I was able to get up to 4.8 and test it via IBT and prime95. Ran a bit hot but since I am on air I understand that. I sure hope when I put it under water it won't run as hot as your reporting or else I would be stuck as well. If feniks is saying you need more juice try upping the Vcore a bit. As for temps my temps on all cores always differ. From 29C to 38C at any given time. But it seems that 2cores stay around the same temp while the other 2 also stay around the same temp how ever Core 1 and 2 stay around 30C on idle while core 3 and 4 sit around 36C and higher.

vcore will vary among batches and individual chips. anyhow, my 2600K also has 2 cores running close together at lower edge of temps, e.g. under load at ~65C while the other two cores will spike almost 10C hotter. it's been like that no matter what. I even tried recalibrating RealTemp at super low clocks as close to ambient temp as possible, but the difference comes back again under load. it's just the way it is.
