Did I damage my Cards? Saturday, April 14, 2012 9:24 AM (permalink)
So last night I was testing some OCs on my 680 SLI setup. It was late, I was tired, and I probably should of been asleep instead of on the computer. Well in my sleepy haze, I accidentally set the GPU offset to +500 instead of the Memory offset, and hit apply. Well once I hit apply my computer Froze up, and I realized what I did and turned off my computer. There was probably about a good 5-7 seconds from when I hit apply to when my computer actually turned off. I shut my comp down waited a couple of seconds and then turned it back on, and cards seem to be working fine, they were in normal temps when i booted them back up. Im just wondering if I damaged them at all by telling it such a high GPU offset. Hope I didnt, just seeing what you guys think.

Na not at all! If your OC is too high, usually it will just crash like that. All the clock and voltage limits will be safe. I max out my voltage for OC'ing, and it's still safe.

    You're fine man.

Yep sounds like you just hard locked the cards when applying those settings.

The only thing you have to look out for is heat. Make sure to turn up the fan speed when benchmarking. Otherwise, these cards have caps in place for voltage and power that should keep you in the safe zone.
