bsod with multiprocessor_configuration_not_supported Friday, April 13, 2012 10:43 AM (permalink)
Hey ALL!

Just received my RMA Z68FTW and when everything was plugged in ready to go.....I get the infamous BSOD with multiprocessor_configuration_not_supported.

1. I rechecked the security of my CPU (looked fine no bent pins etc...)
2. Used 1stick of RAM
3. BIOS recognized CPU and everything looked fine
**pressed the CMOS and still no go
4. ALL connections from hardware tried in multiple SATA ports and secure
5. Tried to do a fresh install of W7 and same BSOD with multiprocessor_configuration_not_supported
6. Called support and sent in the RMA for another RMA in the same day
7. While the RMA is traveling back to CA, I just ordered a new Z68FTW.... Hoping this works

Any ideas?

Cheers!

What a big huge frik'n bummer. I'd be bald over that one.

Did you verify the PSU? I don't think it's the board. Could be the match up of the two.

I wouldn't go with anything less than 1200w with that set up. You don't need to use 1200W but the headroom and category of power covers a lot of sins.

All the VR circuitry and OC function designed-in H/W can make these boards a little more finicky IMO. I was Beta testing a 1500W, nice PSU, and it would not boot my P67FTW. It would boot two other MB: and ASUS 775 model and an ASUS P8P67 WS Revolution(2600K OC'd to 4.4), just not the P67 FTW. I'm not saying the board is bad, it may be spec'd tighter than the ASUS board for closer control for OCing(a guess); sensing voltage stability or levels or low tolerance for min spikes. I suspect this characteristic causes sytems to shut down.

Not a lot of talk around about this topic but I have my suspicions.

I'm stumped too because this is the exact set up I had before my previous mobo fried a cap. Same model board and set up. I figured PLUG-N-PLAY. Oh well. I'm away on business and my new mobo just showed up to the house. Keep fingers crossed, I get home on Sun and I'm hoping a "new" board works.

Beavis, if your voltage are good on the test points, I really agree the setup should work.  Good luck...

Broke down and brought my rig in to see the "Geeks" and it's official..... BAD CPU :0(

Good thing is my CPU is still under warranty :0)
