Yeah grabbing one is a challenge for now. If you eventually get one you can always resell it in the marketplace once the classified arrive!

xmatzelchenx Did anybody know if the 680 FTW or Classified comes to Germany? EVGA has a European store and an office in Germany, so yes..It will make it's way to Europe, it's only a question of when..I know people had to wait a long time for the 580 3GB to make it to Europe even though it was being sold in the US, I'm betting it'll be the same situation for any other card.

I have had several in my cart at newegg but still haven't managed to snag one. I have 2 back plates if someone needs them, haven't even taken them out of the box. This is the first time I haven't gotten in on new architecture. These cards are hard to get vanilla or sc.

Slybo WHEN LORD!? Once Ivybridge and the Sabertooth Z77 drop, it will be time to build my new rig. The only question left is do I get the 680 Superclocked or do I wait for the Classified Ultra? Is there any clue as to when it's coming out? As you probably already know, the Z77 boards are now out on the market for sale. As for the Ivy Bridge, looks like May or June before Intel releases them - and only in socket 1155 socket for now...hopefully the 2011 Ivy Bridge CPUs will be released later this year around the 4th quarter And for the real big question - is it worth waiting for the Classified Ultra GTX680? IMHO, no! You will gain only very minor performance gain over an existing GTX680 SC card. The only thing I would recommend that you wait for is the 4GB versions of the GTX680 and that's only if you are playing at extremely high resolutions (2560 x 1600 or 2560 x 1440). At 1920 x 1080 resolutions, even with all the eye candy maxed (AA, AF, shadows, motion blur, etc), 2GB of the high speed GDDR5 used in the GTX680 and GTX680 SC are more than enough to play at smooth frame rates. If you really want uber performance, then invest in two or three GTX680 or GTX680 SC cards and run them in an SLI configuration. This type of configuration will also allow for you to achieve playable frames rates in both surround and 3D surround mode setups You will get a lot more bang for your buck running an SLI configuration than running a single GTX680 Classified or Classified ULtra card. Just saying!

Next: I wouldn't expect Ivy-E until next year. Regarding the 680...I will be waiting on the 680 Classy HC which won't likely be around until July or so. I think it's worth the wait personally, but everyone is going to have a different view on that;) Ivy E: http://www.xbitlabs.com/n...cessors_This_Year.html Ivy end of April: (among others): http://www.theverge.com/2...therboard-release-date

@ Johny_Utah - thanks for the update. I was not aware that not only is Intel having problems with the 1155 Ivy Bridge CPUs being released on time (still on schedule "just barely" for 2nd Qtr 2012...looks like June right now), but that the enthusiast 2011 Ivy Bridge CPUs had been delayed until possibley the 2nd half of 2013 is just crazy! The good news out of all of this is that I don't need to upgrade just yet as my 980X is doing just fine pulling it's weight (for about two years now)

Look it up when the 680 first came out Nvidia had it on there website that X79 was not suppported for PCI 3.0. Unless they updated it its not supported look at any review site that has the Gpu-z pictured they all say that it's running at pci 2.0.

The hardware does. The Motherboard supports PCIe 3.0 and the CPU has a controller for PCIe 3.0. Also, there are ways around it. It is completely possible to get an x79 board and CPU to run at PCIe 3.0. Go read some forums. There is a very popular thread on the EVGA forums about someone running PCIe 3.0 on their x79 board and 3930k. It's just not officially supported by Nvidia right now. It will be in a later driver update. Right now you'll just have to registry edit.

In Windows, it requires a registry mod to enable 3.0 and GPUZ then shows 3.0 instead of 2.0. In Linux, PCI-E 3.0 is enabled by default after installing NVIDIA drivers 295.33. Nvidia-settings shows PCI-E 3.0 link speed 8.0 GT/s.

Been running PCI-E 3.0 on my X79 board with 7970's since they came out in January. All SB-E chips have the controller on them. As Linux pointed out, you can run the registry hack to enable it until Nvidia releases drivers that support it. A good number of people in the forums lately have been under the (false) impression that they only chips that will have the 3.0 controller on them are Ivy Bridge. Not sure exactly where the disconnect is.

As we learned well from all previous Classified edition graphics cards from EVGA, only a 10-15% gain in performance is achieved over the reference design. Classified cards are only good for superoverclockers that need to push out a few extra hundred points in benchmarks. Definitely not worth the huge premium paid just to have "Classified" stamped on their cards. If you want bragging rights, then by all means, spend that money!

Agree regarding past cards, but with the 680 brings something NEW to the table that could rattle that "15 percent gain rule" :) All 680 boards thus far are hardware locked. You cannot add more volts without soldering (First time) If they change that with this Classified card, we could see something different and possibly more gains.

Yep, learned that lesson with the 580 Classified. Cool to have pointless to own for a regular user. At least it was for me anyways. I could have just got a regular 580 and pushed it to the same clock I had the Classified running at.
