New to Liquid cooling ideas needed Sunday, April 01, 2012 2:28 PM (permalink)
So Recently Ive decided to Build a new pc to replace my current one.  I'm currently using an EVGA 780i with Intel E8400 4gigs of corsair and 2x EVGA 260 GTX video cards.

For my New PC I ordered A few things for it but I want to push as much out of it as I can so i'm thinking of Liquid cooling it.  Here is what i'm working with

Corsair 800D Full Tower
Corsair 1200Watt PSU
Corsair Dominator 24 GB PC3-12800 1600mHz
Corsair Force GT 180 GB SATA III SSD
EVGA X58 Classified3
Intel i7-980
Corsair H100 Liquid CPU cooler
as far as video card/s I'm thinking about going EVGA 580's

If you are going to custom cool the Motherboard and GPU, ditch the H100 and get a normal CPU Block. The 100 will be inferior to something like an EK CPU Block.

      CPU Block-http://www.performance-pc...&products_id=27127

      GPU-http://www.performance-pc...&products_id=29788

Mobo-Not really needed, and hard to find for this block. Good luck in locating one. It is EOL.

      Pump- http://www.performance-pc...1&products_id=3112
Pump Top - Not needed but helps improve flow (and looks) - http://www.performance-pc...&products_id=24823

      Radiator - http://www.performance-pc...&products_id=25926

Tubing - Really you can pick what you want - http://www.performance-pc...roducts_id=31353  Stay away from Dyes. Get colored tubing if you want color. Make sure it is 1/2"ID 3/4"OD and you get 10'

Fittings x12 - http://www.performance-pc...&products_id=26139 Yes everything comes with fittings, you do not need these. Again get what you want, 1/2"ID. If you get compression 1/2"ID 3/4"OD.

Hose Clamps - Get what you want, but they need to be 3/4" OD. Not needed if you get Compression Fittings.
      http://www.performance-pc...index&cPath=59_953

      Reservoir Bay - http://www.performance-pc...&products_id=33681
      Reservoir Cylinder - http://www.performance-pc...&products_id=27957
Only need one, pick which you like.

Thanks for the quick response.  Now I know a little more clearly what I should do I'll let you know how the build goes once everything comes in.

Now, you didn't give me a budget. So I could make it cheaper, I just picked what I would use.
Forgot two things, distilled water from grocery store and http://www.frozencpu.com/..._Coolant_Additive.html or http://www.frozencpu.com/...g_Reservoir_Strip.html

Always flush your new hardware with HOT Distilled water before assembly.

well I just spent 2k on everything except the video card and cooling I was thinking of just getting the GTX 580 FTW Hydro Copper 2 so I dont have to mount the cooling block to it.  This is my 1st Liquid cooling project and my budget will be 1300$ for the rest of it

No, it will not work. That is for the 4 Way SLI Classified. You have a 3 Way SLI Classified.

You can definitely find the EK motherboard block for the 3 way Classified.  I sold mine just recently.  You just gotta have a constant eye in for sale forums and one will show up.  A member here, kram36, has blocks for the motherboard. http://www.koolance.com/product_archive/product_info.php?product_id=827 and http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=27368 Asking price is $20 for the vrm and $35 for the chipset block.  Here's the picture http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/9941/e759.jpg

Actually, these kits work VERY good. All in one, easy to install, and allot less hoses having the pump and res. all built in.http://www.swiftech.com/H2O-x20-Edge-HD.aspx
Have installed them on 2 p.c.s with great results. Used the rad-box off the back of the case method, but could also be mounted in the front, inside of some cases. The triple rad is the way to go. Just a suggestion, thats all.
Your case says a triple can go inside the top. You could always do that too. Hardly any hose length that way.

in the process of putting the system together.  I was wondering the top of the cylinder was the fill port or part of the loop itself.

Top of the Cylinder Reservoir. I believe your res came with a tube, if possible put that in the hole that lets water in the reservoir.

I use a psu tester like this http://www.newegg.ca/Prod...x?Item=N82E16899887005 ( Make sure there is a on/off push button )and an old 350 watt psu , plug into pump push button on the tester and way to go. When I'm done all I have to do is plug my pump back in again.

There is also another way by using your psu and jumping over the pins with a small piece of wire. Connect one end to the green  wire on the 24 pin plug and the other end on any black wire next to it.

Here is a photo from Koolance's Manual.

I have used both kinds, they each have there own quirks about them. To me one is not easier than the other, other than mounting. A cylinder res takes a bit more ingenuity.
