Unable to make payment
Wednesday, March 28, 2012 8:20 AM
( permalink)
When I press "Submit Payment"-button I will get: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e07' [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Error converting data type varchar to numeric. /checkout/eu/eccheckout.asp, line 60 And other question about the price. GTX 680 cost is 499€ and I will get 420,08€ from my 580 Classified Ultra (I paid 538,74€). So I need to pay 78,92€ + 12€ shipping cost + 30€ (my own ship cost to EVGA, Finland to Germany) 120,92€ per card. Also I need to be about two weeks without cards. I don't think that EVGA step-up makes any sense. I could sell these cards to third party (maybe 350-400€). I could walk to the store and pick GTX 680 per 485€ card.

I'm having the same problem. I paid £455.00 = €542.63 each for my classifieds. And you only want to give me €420.08 = £352.27 for these, when they are 2 months old. Are you guys taking the pi$$? I thought a free Step up, means Free? 'Protect your investment'... Sort it out, and stop misleading people!!

The error was fixed. As for the viability of Step-Up, it's really dependent upon your personal situation and won't make sense for everyone. In most cases it works out great though :)

I will probably cancel my step up, because it seems that is just marketing gimmick. Also I am started get some serious concerns towards EVGA quality control. I have only had bad experiences with EVGA.

I have only had bad experiences with EVGA. It sucks that you feel this way, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. Personally, dollar for dollar (euro for euro) I agree that the Step Up program is a rip-off, but I am Mr. Uber-Frugal whenever possible. I also keep my ear to the ground as much as possible to have an idea of when new tech is coming out. That being said, who else offers a similar program? NO ONE!!! If I got in a spot where my primary GPU died a month before new tech came out, I would strongly consider the EVGA Step Up program because it gives me that 90 days of piece of mind that I am not missing out on new technology.

Well I couldn’t complete EVGA step up program even if I would want it (those error messages that they supposedly fixed). My point was that if I would sell my old cards I wouldn´t need wait anything without cards. Also I would be economically better off. So I don’t see it as big loss if they wouldn’t offer whole step up program.

You could probably sell your old cards to a third party, pay EBay fees, pay Paypal fees, and run the risk of something going wrong and having 4 different parties pointing fingers at each other (5 if you count the courier). Or you could make it simple and work with EVGA via their Step Up program. Now I understand there is a programing issue and I am sure that Shane and the whole EVGA programing team is still working on it. I would advise patience. Making the payment right this minute isnt going to change the process for you in Europe. The Europe office is closed for the evening and nothing is going to push your Step Up any faster in the next few minutes (even the next few hours).

Or you could make it simple and work with EVGA via their Step Up program. I still feel like cheated. Because: With a valid part, once per purchase, you can upgrade your EVGA product by paying the difference between what you paid and the price on EVGA's website. It's really that simple! Why did my price paid get changed during the approval process? One of two reasons: After reviewing the price paid on your invoice, the Step-Up department will adjust pricing based on your invoice. So I was looking more like GTX 680 price - invoice price. Not some list price.

I have never had a problem. I have contacted EVGA about issues before and they helped out greatly. Some should relax. When reading reviews I consistently disregard the very worst of the worst reviews because they are always emotionally driven this one also falls into that category.

When you purchased the card, did you receive a rebate? That is the most common reason that Step-Up prices are changed. We do deduct the price of any rebate. Of course I am in the US, so it may differ in EU.

No, I purchased mine in the UK at £455 or €542.63. This is excluding shipping. There was no rebate scheme. So why am I only getting €420.08 Euros for my card? I don't mind paying the shipping cost, but why am I having to pay more for a card, that still retails more than the card I am stepping up to?

The Step-Up Pricing should be updated now. We give you credit for the price you paid excluding taxes, converted to Euros, with Germany's 19% tax rate added onto that. You would then pay the difference + shipping which in this case is only the shipping cost.

Thank you for your help. I have gone on to my product, and the pricing has changed. But now when I go to submit payment, it still has the old price of 91.xx Euro's. Instead of 12 Euro's. Regards, Simon. EDIT: One of my step up's on submit payment is -28.67 Euro's & the other is 91.82 Euro's. Can you adjust both accordingly. Thank you.

Still no luck, and my 7 days will be up soon to pay. I have payment ready, but obviously can't pay till the submit payment has been changed accordingly. Regards, Simon.
