evga gtx-580 leak? Saturday, March 24, 2012 12:41 PM (permalink)
have a evga gtx580
imagine looking at the gpu from the top. you can see the top. about the middle of the card it looks like there's some oil-like substance there. anyone know what i mean? should i upload a picture?
the gpu idles at 48-50C which i think is too high. (ie: just sitting in windows)

does evga provide any sort of testing program that checks the gpu's health? i'm not talking about info programs or benchmark programs. i mean tools.

      JK!

Yeah that's usually from the VRAM thermal pads I believe. Perfectly normal. I'd just shutdown, and wipe it gently off with a r ag.

oh yeah, and apart from that i'm now having issues with the card. games freeze and i must reboot the pc. so i will return card for testing at local shop. am NOT happy with "it's normal" answer. this my 1st evga. had many other brands and never this issue. never! i am freaking out.

last post says maybe fan fluid that should be sealed. BANG! it hits me. makes sense. fan works but not go past 40% before. then i install precissionx and manual override fan to auto. run benchmark and fan now spins to 70%+ and 3200rpm if needed. before not happen this. i still not sure but it make logical sense. i am so angry and upset. if shop can not crash during tests they say card ok go home. but i have dud card. understand?

Ahh maybe it's a capacitor or something leaking?

Hmm if you registered it, I would RMA it thru EVGA.

card is under warranty so i take back to local shop. they test and maybe exchange for new card. that is my best hope. i not like this card anymore. how can something come out and people say okay. after all come out then something that needs item goes dry. then what? fire? or maybe such people only think that some come out. but if some come out at one time maybe more come out later. this is repeat until no more left. some car leak oil too. but owner fill up. if not fill up after time car engine kaboom. so my card leak something. how do i know if not already empty? if not empty now maybe empty soon.
