Mispackaged Superclocked GTX 470? Sunday, March 18, 2012 7:55 PM (permalink)
Today I SLI'ed my superclocked GTX 470 with a newly purchased SC GTX 470. After playing with GPU-Z, I've noticed that default clock speed on my first GTX 470 is actually 608mhz and not the 625mhz. I've never noticed this before. Now wondering, did I get a mispackaged GTX 470?

check the p/n number on back of card new and old  (sticker) then post your p/n number i have a sc 470 my p/n number is 012-p3-1472-rr
it could be the new our old card when sli comes into place or non of the above maybe sli starts at stock 470 settings either way your p/n number will tell you what you got unless someone swaped stickers

I just checked it.  The number was 012-P3-1470-AR. It took me two years to notice. It was only a $20 difference at the time but I feel robbed...

Easy fix, run precision, set core speed to 650 and be above both the regular and super clock speeds. I understand the point your making, I'm not trying to say boo hoo get over it. I would feel the same way in your posistion. It's kinda the same feeling that I get when I order something and the price drops by $40 2 days later and I have to try and get money back.

Mistakes happen during manufacturing and packaging but EVGA does make quality products. I'm not too bother by it. I just needed to figure out what happened. I have them both at 615mhz for now, I might try 650mhz later today. Thanks for the help!

They will do 650 on stock voltage no problem. Mine run at 800 core for folding and I have run up to 850 for gamming. So 650 is just a drop in the bucket. I'll add in that in running 800 my voltages are raised and I'm in water but still you should be able to hit 650-675 without any problems.

I've got 2 of the 012-P3-1470-AR versions and both have identical clock speeds. Only thing I just noticed with Nvidia Inspector is the voltages are slightly different. One is 0.125v and the other is 0.112v

Different GPU's need different voltages to run a given speed. It's not one size fits all.

yea, I noticed that with mine EVGA GTX470 SC that I have, at stock clocks 1 runs at 0.9870V and the other at 1.0750V, never understood why, and the one running at 1.0750 runs hotter then the other, I try manually adjust V to match the lower one and after 20 minutes in game it will make the game freezes and crashes, lame but true

I've been running mine like this since I got them. Never had a lock up or anything. Top card was overheating but, that was when I was running them close together in SLI mode with barely an inch in between the 2. I moved the 2nd card down to the 3rd pcie slot and of course they run alot cooler.

Does the SC card have the high flow bracket installed? If so there is your answer there.

they are same exactly cards, that is why I said that difference make no sense, they should or run the same, or I mean closebut between 0.987 and 1.075 is a big difference.
anyway I don't even care because they run games smooth on default setting, I am on air cooling so I can't OC them anyway, and even in default they shot my room temperature from 80F to 89F easily in 1 hour of gaming, and leave me no choice on turning on my air conditioning, that is the only CONS about those cards, they are heaters, usu to save me money in NY during winter  lol.......
