This may sound like a stupid question, but this board does support overclocking the CPUs, right?

Well there are 2 parts to this question... Does the board support OC'ing: Yes Does the board support OC'ing on current CPU's? The answer unfortunately is no. Current CPU's are multiplier locked, and they don't scale very high on bclock.

The board looks great, glad to see you guys went with INtel chips instead of the Nvidia chips for the extra PCIe lanes

Curious to see what the SR-X at stock speeds will do compared to an SR-2 at say 4.2 or so.

That would be interesting to see. I've seen some of the new 2011 i7's beat the SR-2 by themselves in the benches. I think having 2 CPU's will be more beneficial to CPU heavy applications that it will for benchmarking. Does anybody know if you can use multiple Quadro GPU's with this board or does it need a special Nvidia chip?

The board looks great but SR-X stands for Super Record-X so which records can I break if it's not possible to overclock the CPU's? And I doubt Intel will release any unlocked Xenos. Sorry for my scepticism but I'm a little disappointed about the CPU's and that's not your fault.

Kind of torn here. Get the SR-X, put up with the difficulties of HPTX form, and pray for unlocked Xeons at some point... Or go for standard dual lga2011 board, smaller form.

I'm kind of in the same boat, I purchased an incredibly large and expensive HPTX case, now I'm deciding whether to resell it if I can, and just go for a single socket board with 4 way SLI. However, that being said, I will definitely stick with the SR-X if there's a confirmation of unlocked CPUs to come.

georgep001 Will we sr-2 owners still be getting support and updates? Of course. We always support our products even when newer versions are released. If you ever need technical support we are available 24/7 to address your needs no matter which of our products you own. If we still support our old NF4 boards (which we do) you can rest assured that we will continue to support the SR-2 for years to come. Currently there are no updates needed for the SR-2, but if a fix is ever needed (CPU microcode, etc.) we will of course make sure to put that in the pipe and keep you guys informed.

Mik3yD Just wondering why the SR-X comes with a 3 year warranty and the SR-2 came with a lifetime warranty? This question has come up a few times now. We found, after alot of market research, that users prefer a lower price point and the option to invest a little more for a longer warranty if wanted. Essentially it allows you the power to choose your warranty. Some people know they will upgrade in 3 years so they will save their money. Others may want to purchase the extension to a 5/10 year warranty. In all reality how many of us still have systems from 10 years ago we rely on? And if you did have a 10 year old system which broke would you invest the time and money to RMA it, or simply upgrade? Additionally KR products do not require 30 day registration to exercise the full 3 year warranty.
