Well i should have checked this thread sooner it seems. For whatever reason its been going on with mine and i couldnt nail down what it was. And now I assume this is what has killed the fan control on a Gigabyte card I had been running along with my EVGA card. So now I have an expensive paperweight until i find another cooling solution for it which is looking pretty bleak as it is a non-standard layout on the SOC Card.

It is one of those bugs you wonder how it ever got past QA.

I mean...did they just not bother to test the CUDA functionality at all before releasing it?  Or did they test it entirely on 'headless' servers or something?  How on earth do you miss something as this?

If your monitor goes to sleep (which it will do on every single Windows 7 power profile...even the 'high performance' one...), and you are running a CUDA app, it will fail.

Does this issue still effect the newest drivers that got released 296.10?

Anyone know? Don't mean to like bump, but really curious if they still do otherwise I'm sticking with my 285 drivers.

Yes it does. Ive been having the problem for the last fewf days since I upgrade to 296.10. Im glad this thread came along because Ive been doing all sorts of other crazy stuff to troubleshoot this and this is finally the answer. Its just like the quirk when I play Diablo 2 though. I have to have a solid color on my background and the display resolution window open or else Diablo becomes a giant field of green and purple. This is something that needs fixed though. im sure there are plenty of folders out there still trying to figure out whats going wrong with their clients.

Appears to be fixed in the 301.24 beta drivers.

Seems like the beta drivers are a good fix for the current issue, only issue for those that don't click on the link. 803x WUs may have a problem with the new 301.24 drivers. But at least there's progress in one area lol.

I'm not having a problem with 301.24 on my GTX 580, GTX 260.
I was having issues with my GTX 460 failing some units, but I think I'm having more problems with Precision X than anything else. Rolled back to 2.1.2 and haven't had a failed unit.

This must be situational.  I just started folding 04/29/2012, and no failures.  My first Stanford wu has completed successfully.  I'm still running my climate model till Chimp starts, and that's fine too.  Thanks for the info Cuda
