And USPS wonders why they are going bankrupt
Tuesday, February 21, 2012 4:22 PM
( permalink)
Now I'm not new to buying things online, but this is a first for me. I have had things take longer than expected to be delivered... It happens. But last week USPS has lost two of my packages apparently. TWO of them and they weren't from the same person or even the same part of the country. That has to be a new level of fail in my opinion. Lose two of my packages in the same week... I still find it hard to believe.

lol, this happens to me too once- in- awhile too... they actually take 2 days normally to get my RYO cigs from york pa, but theyve sent my packages to farmingdale, long island before and a couple other towns that were one digit different in the zip code. super frustrating!! i feel your pain man!!

I know exactly what you mean... One of mine ended in Cali, the other never left Germany. I called and they said it must be in a shipping center somewhere... For two weeks!? But yep, I agree...

Several weeks back i had a $1000 laptop disappear, I had to call the post office that was making the delivery and sure enough the mail carrier forgot to scan it as delivered.

Losing packages or delaying delivery is not the reason the USPS is in trouble, explaining it would get the thread locked. In my experience, USPS has always been better than either UPS or FedEx with regard to on-time and undamaged, and not left where someone could steal it or it be damaged by rain, deliveries.

Arctucas Losing packages or delaying delivery is not the reason the USPS is in trouble, explaining it would get the thread locked. IMHO, I'd just as soon they get out of the "package" business altogether. What people buy/sell...engaging in other e-comm transactions...can be delivered by a service that is also for-profit. What the USPS was primarily funded to do is something that cannot be done profitably...delivering letters (especially government communication...voting stuff, news on issues, jury summons, newspapers, etc) to literally every address in the country, no matter how remote, on a regular and predictable schedule. So...by all means, let them do that, and pay for it publicly, and then leave the packages to the for-profit commercial carriers.

When I contacted the guy a little bit ago he said they had several other packages that went out that same day that have also disappeared. He's going to get back to me tomorrow after he contacts USPS and see if they can figure out what's going on.

I get my neighbors' mail more often that I'd like. Which is worrisome b/c I get a lot of rebates from buying PC parts... I really hope they don't mess up my mail like that

I have always had good luck with USPS. Not sure why they are not making more money now with all the online orders.

I had a work Amex card mailed USPS to my house, 2 weeks later it still wasn't there. My boss got me a new card and sent it next day UPS and it was there. Another 2 weeks later guess what shows up USPS, yup the Amex card sent a month ago. USPS is horrible in my area, I often get my neighbors mail, had priority packages take 3 months to get from the midwest to Washington state. 99.99% of the mail I get is junk, I'm down to 2 bills that can't go online only, one is once a quarter and the other is every other month.

Not only have I received the wrong mail before, but one time I received a letter that was almost completely cut in 1/2 with segments missing and covered with what I call a "sorry" bag. Basically, it was a bag that said "Sorry we messed up." on it. I normally use UPS and have never been disappointed.

Then I noticed it was different address. Another guy with same name, but TOTALLY different address, and yet it arrived to me. I was so freaked out! Cuz I did get stopped by the cops there a month prior to the letter haha.

Every time I order something online, I make sure it can be sent from either UPS, FedEx or DHL. If the company ships via USPS, I start looking at other websites.

They are bugging me right now. I have a package that arrived in town on Monday. As in early tha morning it shows the arrival scan. Its Wednesday and its status has not changed. Normal something will arrive and get sent out the same day... right now its sitting there for unknown reasons. ****? I never had anything lost though. unless this is lost and that's the reason they are holding it. On the same not... I ordered something yesterday. And it is out for delivery TODAY. How does that happen? Also UPS. Where is a number i can call?

I had an empty bag show up with a note from USPS that basically "oops. BTW, you're spit out of luck." I felt bad for the seller, but I was angry he didn't package it better, that and I needed it for a class that already started. I got a refund and someone at USPS got a free book; while the seller got time and money wasted.

My birthday was back in september. My brother had ordered me a pair of my favorite NCAA team's shorts... he got the wrong size and had to send back. 5 months later to the day, i finally got the new, correctly sized shorts. USPS had lost the package 3x, and he had to get 3 different refunds from the company. When we walked in to talk to them, they said there was nothing they could do besides keep an eye out for the packages. Needless to say that's extremely absurd. I got all the rest of my cards/mail from him and other family members so addressing wasnt a problem. Just a huge fail on them. I dont think i'll ever choose them again if i can help it.
