AT&T customers surprised by 'unlimited data' limit

http://www.google.com/hos...2e47ad870390e1dea6e730 Normally i would overlook a article like this. However. The amount they CAP the unlimited at is 2GB. Really??? Thats what they have for normal plans.... And with the normal plans they will let you keep your speed at over 2GB but charge you for how much you go over. I use over 2GB on average. I guess i am lucky i stuck with Verizon. Even though i never get close to the speed i use to get i still get better than that.

I find it ridiculous that their packet shaping deliberately throttles 99%. 99%...really AT&T?

In other news, water is wet, people are dumb, and corporations are greedy. Honestly though, they are just trying to invent more ways to suck money out of folks without re-investing in their own infrastructure.

Verizon is no better... I have their unlimited data but it has a 5gb throttle cap. If you hit it they cut your speed to a snail's pace. but then their 3g is so horrifically slow now that cutting it anymore would be like dial up. Not that its much better than that now.. I have hit it a few times and when they cut the speed its so bad you cant even stream low bitrate audio on pandora...

Yes I do if everyone went to another carrier then big ones like Verizon and at&t would switch up their whole plan on how they treat their customers

patchesanook do what i did, drop the smart phone and just get a phone and netbook. Sounds great but.... A) people don't want to lug around a netbook B) data plans for a netbook are pretty freaking pricey too, although there are many that do have true unlimited access, so I see your point.

this is kinda ridiculous, I'm on the 2gb plan and it really doesn't take much to hit the limit, maybe look at 2-3 pages a day (like the forum or webcomics) and maybe look at 1-2 ~4 minute long videos on youtube and I get the TXT from ATT saying i used 90% of my plan in just over 2 weeks. I don't think by any means I'm a "power user" with my phone because about 90% of the time i use my phone i'm in a area with WiFi... what happened to truly unlimited data plans? i used to have one where i could use >10gb a week and no throttling or anything would occur, but that was back in 2009..
I was made a cannibal to fix problems like you

There is an easy fix here; Just disband EVGA managment, scatter them at the top of other companies, and wait for customer sevice to go through the roof.

Although it is more to carry around, you could just ditch the mobile phone entirely at that point and go with something like this. http://www.amazon.com/D-Link-Skype-USB-Phone-Adapter/dp/B000E39V9O (not too sure on quality and ease of use tho)

Exactly why i dropped t mobile and got on sprint so I can at least get on the unlimited data plan in case they start capping/throttling too. I need my data lol I used 16Gb last month and I am NOT tethering to a PC.

While I understand that 2GB is hardly "unlimted" and very misleading, I personally have trouble breaking 400MB on a good month. But then again, I don't have my eyes glued to my phone on a regular basis and free wi-fi is everywhere I go for the most part.

But I also read somewhere that they include wifi data as part of your monthly 2, 3 5+GB plans. They could have dropped this idea though. Not sure.
