if you need the New raid rom updates for now bios 83 is the only way to go, My personal favorite is 77 ( the last update before the new raid Rom) , supposable Intel is to release new drivers that will support Trim in Raid 0 ( these will require a new BIOS ( yet to be released )

so which one are you on, as long as your above 44 you can have the 6 core chip, and if your on 64 or later, you can use the 1.5X uncore, your BIOS version should be on a small white sticker on your clam shell, it's also on the second boot screen but passes too fast for most to see it, you must be skilled with the pause button to get it to stop. If there is a newer Microcode update than your chip, that may mean youhave ti change your multaplier manualy to gett the full speed of your CPUas it may default or register as something less, but it will still let you change to any authorized multaplier.

well i got stable at 4.3 / 4.4 and even 4.5 strange thing is volts look low --which is strange for me as well ..
4.4 is stable at 1.411 volts prime 95 ran it for like 30 min or so ---
temps 70-68-65-69 ia m on water cooling
 
 

nothing too strange there.  I had mine stable on 1.41 for 20 runs of linx at 4.52.  I would try linx next and get your pretty badge:) 

well i ran prime 95 for 4 hours at 4.46ghz at 1.423v stable ..
 
i want to over clock the ram to a min 2133 or above 2000 i need help in that i dont know whta setings to use ..
 
i have muskun 6 sticks of 2gb each 6-8-6-24 1.65 volts rams ..
 
pls i want to over clock these to get the best results .
 

dont use prime. use linx.(start with low ram quantity tests and work ure way up to full ram load after u get a stable start. )
 
if u want to OC ure ram that high, ure gonna have to down the multi. dont be shy on the cpu voltage, the 975 is a power hog.

yeah...I would avoid the XMP for the ram, just enter the timing values yourself.  As for your memory, its going to be more difficult getting ram rated at 1600 to OC to 2000mhz+ while filling all dimm slots too(due to the IMC).  Not saying you cant get there, but I bet it will take 1.70v+ and you will not be able to run those timings.  Its nice to have memory that will run that high, but honestly you wont notice the difference between 1600 and 2000.

over clocked to a stable 4.4 / 4.5ghz --strange this is volts are quiet low for this cpu seems to prime 95 stable ran it for a good 30 min
 
also i have over clocked my rams to 2000mhz even ..

on water cooling temps were all under 70c -- i have a 3 rad setup
 

@ 2100 mhz the timings are amazing --6-9-6-26-1t @ 1.65 volts

Just take the speed you want in this case 5000 and devide it by the frequcy your on for example 200 and the Number you get will be what CPU multapler you need.
 
In this case 5000/200= 25 so you would need a cpu multaplier of 25.  
 
If you would post where you are, And the settings your at, there would be plenty of people her that could recomend changes.
 
If you want to keep your memory where it is at, then your not going to want to change your memory multaplier, or your host freqency, so all you have left to manapulate is CPU multaplier.

regardless what setings should be changed to get 5ghz or close to that 4.9ghz

if your stable at 4.5 and happy where your memory is, the only two things you should have to change is CPU multiplier and Vcore. IF you change Host frequency, your changing both CPU and memory, you said above you were well pleased with your memory. as you increase Your multiplier, expect to have to increase Vcore, the change is NOT linear, You will find you need more and more, for smaller steps.

i can give you my 5ghz overclock settings but tbh the variants between our setups would throw them out the window pretty much straight away, to get it to bench at 5ghz from my experience at least,you would be required to run the thing at voltages that would far exceed the recomended(not trying deter you at all) like others have said every chip,board is different but without ALOT of pro type cooling (eg ln2 or dice ) these boards just dont overclock that well compared to others.Can you tell me what cooling you are currently running?

dual 360 rad set up with 12 fans in push pull / 2 pumps for high flow rate --- all dedicated towards the cpu
 
 

I would imigine your already above Intels recomendation wich is 1.4 vcore or VTT, but don't let that limit frighten you, temps are more important than volts, I would guess that you will be in the 1.47 range, or higher. I need 1.57 Vtt for 12G at 2000 speed. and a 1.375 with Vdroop enabled, but with vdroop enabled it's droping to 1.365 loaded. this is for 4.2

though i did not run prime95 this time around wanted to beat my sandy bridge score which i think i wont be able to get with maxmem it was 1947 with a 5ghz oc on the cpu and rams were tridents 9-11-9-27 @ 2133 speeds
 
strange that with this set up i am at 1200 max 1300 --what gives
though the low score in the geekbench is i guess due to the          9800gt --sparkle crap edition ..

qpi and ioh voltage are at default 1.8 vots ---isnt this high -- i also tried on load bios defaults and same thing ...
 
i flashed to the latest evga bios --

then ure system isint as stable as you think it is. run linx instead and chek out ure gflops. if they r low then u know something is outta whack.
 
-is HT turned off?(should be)
-u should hit atleast 64+ gflops in linx with ure OC.
-my 1st post is still valid regarding stability testing with linx.
-high OC and low calculation power isint worth crap. ure better  off with a lower more stable OC.
