eVGA GTX 580 Classified Ultra...just speechless

Sorry if I'm waisting space for gloating on a video card but I just want to say how impressed I am with this card. BF3 on Ultra settings across the board is extremely smooth. Without even speeding up the fan it only reaches around 69C-72C after playing for hours. btw: With 87 days left on stepUp it's gonna be a nice monetary insurance policy towards a new (you know what) that is if we see them. ;) (fingers crossed) Anyways, I can't say enough to NVidia, eVGA and all involved for such a well built card. sniff sniff................ok enough of that....carry on.

Ditto here. Running 2 at 960 without having to bump voltage over stock settings is sweet indeed.

@ cade121 2 of them and both at 960? What PSU are you having to use to handle that much juice? I'm running a Corsair HX750 with mine and have my 2600K pumped to 4.4 right now 24/7 and it's not giving me any hiccups so far. hope I'm good. edit...n/m just read your siggy. ;)

The Classified 580 is an awesome card. I am still running my single card stable at 1000 MHz with a small voltage bump going on 6-weeks now. I also have no issues with excessive temperatures.

ace: the only way that could be explained would be if your old 580 wasn't stable at 1000..........at 1000 mhz both cards should perform identically assuming vram amount isnt a factor.

The 580 Classified Ultra is a great GREAT card! I was running two @ 980/2300, until I switched them out for two Sapphire 7970's. These cards go head to head with AMD's flagship, but of course the 7970's are faster. I can't wait until Kepler hits so I can get rid of these 7970's and re-join the EVGA team, my favorite brand!

Just got my second Ultra yesterday and popped it in.... In my opinion these are the best cards available hands down. I just sold my unlocked 2GB 6950 TriFire setup and I had two 2GB Matrix 5870s before that... neither setup came close to this level of performance, not to mention all the troubleshooting time I spent. These Ultras have no glitches, driver issues or anything like that. Both cards run cool and stable at 990/2225 and they stay pretty quiet with a custom fan profile. I really can't say enough about how great the experience is with these cards... I know that at any time I can sit down at my rig, throw on ANY game and stay locked in at 60fps without fail. That has been my goal for a long time now, and I was finally able to get there with these cards. Way to go EVGA.

I'm not that lucky, I got the normal 580 Classified, but it's still great. I can set it to 900 without adding voltage. And with some more voltage and the fan loud as a jet engine, even this is possible 1035/2370 @1,28V (can't link to 3dmark11 here) Great product, EVGA. Looking forward to the 785 Classified ?! :)

Can anyone upload the BIOS to the Classified ultra, so I can flash my Classified's with it. I can't modify this BIOS with either Fermi Bios editor, or Nibitor. I just want to have my cards running @ 900mhz without having to use third party software. Before anyone goes on about the dangers of flashing your BIOS. I have plenty of experience in creating OC VBIOS, for both ATI/AMD and Nvidia. I just wish they would give me the software to play around with this BIOS... Cheers, Simon.

This seems odd, was mentioned before, but "how" can this Classified Card "destroy" your Reference Cards if you the reference Cards OC'd to 1 Ghz?? Other than additional VRAM (1.5Gb vs 3Gb), which wold only be a benefit with a Res of 2560x1440 or higher (and Multi monitors).

Third party software? I wouldn't call EVGA precision third party software considering this is a custom card..............In fact, not using any custom software with this classified card is a complete waste of having one , no? The whole point is to use the voltage tweaker on this card to push it to the max, and use precision to maintain the temperatures you like.........I dont know, that's what I bought my classy ultras for.........If not, I'd just have bought two normal 580s, or 7970s for that matter.

Well If EVGA gave us a BIOS editing tool for this card, I would be posting 1000/2000/2300 Custom BIOS by now. Which would allow you to run the card 24/7 without having to use a third party app to control clock and voltages, and applying them at every Windows startup. Plus with a modified Bios you would get power saving mode. Anyway, I would still like someone to upload their Classified Ultra Bios please. Simon.

you still get power saving mode if you adjust the speeds with precision..........I run my cards at 965 for 24/7 use, and they definitely downclock all the way to 51mhz.

hoserx, I should have went into more detail about the destroying my ref 580! I game on my Dell 24" which is 1920 x 1200 My ref 580 with 1.536MB of ram was being taxed in Crysis 2 with all the eye candy on. I thought ok my ram is maxed but the game is playing well, So I figured at that resolution playing 40 to 60 FPS I had it going on! With the ultra in playing Crysis 2 1.840MB of ram is in use now. The color, detail and game play is much better than my ref 580. At 975 core on the ultra I'm seeing 50 to 70+ FPS steady with my i7-950 @ 4.2ghz, in my situation it destroys my ref 580.......! I'm happy I did not get the 1536MB Classified to SLI with my ref 580 as I planned Amazon said it would take at least a mounth to ship it. Found the ultra at Microcenter rest is history! Some time in near future I will add my toy to MODS RIGS with pics. Cheers.....

You do know that Crysis 2 is one game that suffers huge VRAM leakage.....ie using a 1.5GB Card will show almost all VRAM being used well a 3GB VRAM Card will show almost all of its VRAM being used, the VRAM useage is horrible and not optimized for this Title. btw, I play on 2560x1440 and my old 580SC 1.5GB SLi smoked through this title with no problems at all, VRAM useage around 90%.....
