he has a i5, so no ht. and you have a misconception of the difference of cards. i have a ftw card and it doesn't mean it can overclock better a than sc, its just factory overclocks so they price them accordingly. a plain 680 can overclock way better than my ftw and some 680s cant get the same mhz as my ftw, i bought factory oc so im know i will get +100 offset.

You do realize hyper-threading is useless in all gaming scenarios, in fact, if enabled you will just increase your processors temps with no performance gain whatsoever, hence why the 2500k out performs the 2600k/2700k in all gaming atmospheres(mainly due to the lesser temps enabling it to hit 5.0ghz on air 24-7, try doing that to a 2600k/2700k).
The only test situation where hyper-threading becomes handy is the cpu physics test.(4 physical/4 virtual cpu's)
Note to all: the 670GTX FTW is a 680GTX with a defective/broken SMX unit. Overclocking is never guaranteed, one of my 670FTW's hits 1325mhz the other only 1260mhz core.

Re do your score again bro. Turn on hyperthreading you get more points. I bet your 5Ghz wont be stable once you turn on hyperthreading. I had to lower my CPU from 4.8ghz to 4.7 cause of hyperthreading.

Also shogon thank you for your comparison but I already new CPU frequency will draw a greater impact than RAM frequency. Unfortunately I am at my CPUs limit cause my motherboard does not support voltages about 1.5V. If I can get a new motherboard I will over-volt my stuff at the time being for the benchmark, then down clock it for daily use. But once again thank you for showing me still.

Hey thebski NICE overclocks for your FTW cards!! I figure if I wanted to hit the 18,000 mark or right under it like the 17,700mark, I would need a 6 core to do it. Also thebski don't forget the fact you have two FTW cards as well. SO that is why you most defiantly were able to hit the 18,000 mark. I might not hit that mark with a 6 core because I have two SC cards instead. We all know that the FTW cards can dramatically overclock higher than SC card unless you get a SC card that performs as good as a FTW card. My cards are about as good as a FTW card but not quite there.

Here is my 670 FTW SLI score. I was able to break 18K but it takes 6 cores to do it.

Here's a comparison of 4.8 w/ 1600 mhz memory and 4.7 w/ 1867 Mhz memory.

I think clock speed on the CPU has a much more dramatic effect than memory does.

this is correct, CPU will have a much higher impact as it adds straight to processing power.

mem clock speed / bandwidth has a diminishing performance return as you clock them up. you will not notice much (if any) real world performance gain in games.

I would imagine cause you are changing your default timings.

I think you will get a higher score by messing with the memory, I'm assuming a few frames to not much though.

I'd say your 2 670s are good, I score P15335 with my 690 and i5 at 4.8. Forget what the clocks when I tried that.

Hey did you play with your timings on your ram? How many points will it give you anyways. If its like 15 then its not worth it.

I reached the 20K mark GPU score with my cards. It was 20282 for my GPU score. But I had to down clock my cards because I had hyper threading on to let it run stable.

Ok I got my score up to 16007 now by just turning on hyper threading like I said. I just had to lower my graphic cards core clocks by -15mhz and my memory clocks to -15mhz. My graphics cards core overclocks is +100mhz and +160mhz on memory clocks.

See your friend has a better physics score than me cause he has hyper threading on. Like I said if I turn on hyper threading I can get a higher score to the 16,000 mark. Your friends reading says 8 logic cores while mine says 4 logic cores. But that is a great score he has there. Tell him to overclock his cards if he has not all ready, and then give me a update on his score.

With Sandy and Ivy Bridge the BCLK is linked to SATA lanes, PCIe, USB etc. If you overclock it then you overclock everything and you would have a hard time finding which component is causing errors or stability issues. This is why the K CPUs are so important.

Ok this is the absolute overclock I can do with my cards. I took the time to see what max I can get with them. I am at the half way mark to the 16,000 mark. But I know for sure I can hit the 16,000 mark and maybe score a little higher if I turn on hyper threading on my CPU. Also I bet I can get more points if I had 16GBs of RAM instead of 8GBs. My RAM is clocked at 2133mhz(which is stock for my RAM) but I wish the 2600k can handle more than that because the memory control panel cant handle a higher frequency than 2133mhz(on what I know of). My RAM is capable of achieving 2400mhz. But to bad I cant with my processor. Heck at least I am happy that I can get a graphics score of 20,282 with my 670s.

BCLK on Sandy and Ivy Bridge is going to cause more headaches than you'd want to deal with. You would be overclocking your SATA lanes and everything.

I never tried to overclock my BCLK. How bad could it be? Also how much of a performance boost will it give you?

Little more overclocking you should get into the 16's, raise your BCLK as high as you can 3DMark likes higher BCLK.

EDIT: your GPU score is definately higher, I am guessing that you are overclocking some? I left mine at default. 6 core versus 4 core would explain the total score similarity.

Ya I have my CPU at 4.7ghz. Also I have hyper threading turned off. I know if I had it on the my CPU score will go up a little more.
