If someone purchases a graphics card to upgrade their system, they may not know how to reattach heatsinks, reattach screws (like what happened in my case), etc. That really does indicate a defective product. Imagine dell shipping a bunch of computers with cpu's not properly installed... that would go over well.
Re:Got a defective 670 SC 4gb (morphaus)

 I wouldn't consider that defective at all

Really ?

wow
Re:Got a defective 670 SC 4gb (whitedragon_)

 Glad it all worked out for ya. I consider that defective.
Put in a case with bad airflow, i probably would've blown it running benchmarks sooner today.
Re:Got a defective 670 SC 4gb (Don Karnage)

 The connector on the VRM's just wasn't properly secured. I wouldn't consider that defective at all. Clearly no one is even looking at cards before they are tossed (quite literally?) in a box and shipped out. While standing on top of my computer, looking down the backplates (I got a SilverstoneFT02 so yea, they're vertical) I found something I didn't like, one of the card's heatsink was diagonal...

Being a technician in electronics, I figured I'd do some overtime and found the following:
**DO NOT BOTHER WITH THE FOLLOWING IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE IN ELECTRONICS AND PROPER TOOLS**. You simply risk more problems and to void your warranty. Plus I'm sure EVGA would do their RMA samurai magic stuff I keep hearing of.

One of the lock pins was simply not locked
[attachment=0]
Side View
[attachment=1]
Here's where it should've been inserted, this hole can be seen even with the backplate on
[attachment=3]
And even after insertion, the lock's side pins needed some help to lock properly showing they probably were inserted but not locked for some time before breaking loose.
[attachment=2]

The serial of the defective one ended with: 00284

On a brighter notes, here are 3dMarks11 and Unigine, both on standard mode, of GTX670SC4GB SLI
[attachment=4]
[attachment=5]

-Magnifique!
