AAAaaaaooohh.
I knew about the board size, but not about the PCiE lanes. I would think the Classified would have X16 all the way through? I know PCiE 3.0 has thru-put goodness, but... I just dont know.
Here I have the E759 with the NF in it, does ANY of the new X79 have similar??

You will need a dual socket 2011 board for 40-lanes per CPU and 80-lanes total. Then you can have two slots connected to CPU 1 at x16 and two slots connected to CPU 2 at x16. That will leave two x8 slots left over to use for something else like RAID cards.

No. There ar 40 pcie lanes vs 36 of the x58 and 16 in socket 1155.

779 is bigger by an inch and officially supports 4-way SLI, check this out.

Also go to the support section, under manuals, and look up the visual guides for the boards you're interested in. Page 2 of all guides shows you which configuration is possible.

What, if any, are the differences between these 2 motherboards?? I have to decide in a couple weeks which one to get.

Under the X58, I've always had a Classified. First the E759, then a 4-way, now an E759 again(didnt know what I had the first round...)
As far as I can tell, there is no diff, aside from the PCIe slots shifting around a bit! For the extra $50, do I get a membership card and a nice t-shirt letting folks know I got the fancy version of the 2 identical boards??
