my fan runs at 30% and stays idle at 31c so something could be going wrong, you will definitely want to download precision x utility yo see if it helps..hope all goes good for u

yours idles at 30% fan speed? mine idles at 40% fan speed.

yes also keep in mind i have other case fans all around with good air flow keeping my gpu cool

but is your default fan speed 30% or did you set it that way?

yes they are default on auto

EDIT: I am an idiot. I had selected fan curve and that made it go to 40% so just un selecting it put it right back to 30%.

Hi all,

First post and sort of a noob so please forgive my ignorance.

So I just received my new 670 FTW and installed it. Works great from what I can see, but the fan has been running full speed from the second it was turned on. Sounds like a jet about to take off. Any ideas how I can stop this? Was it my error, or does the card have a problem?

This is likely caused by the GPU fan connector not being on all the way. You should be able to just remove the shroud screws and check it. This will not void your warranty.

Edit: For future reference it would be helpful to have your system details in your forum signature...that way we don't have to ask.

Dunno if this will help, but when you change the fan percentage in precision x you need to hit apply for it to change. Or at least that's what I need to do to change it on my 670.

Temps were the same before and after adjusting the fan, because adjusting the fan in the application did nothing. ~31C idle. Temp got up to ~43C playing Diablo 3.

what were the original temps on idle and gaming without having to adjust the fan?

Download Evga Precision Utility on this site under support, sub. drivers and bios, sub. graphic card. the utility will allow you to auto or manual control the cards fan plus other features. Good luck!
