Hi,
i don't load any of the saved bios profiles. I recreate the profiles from scratch again and save them. I never load previously saved profiles. This is a response I got from evgal

Intel reports that the memory controller in the i7 920 can only go up to 1066Mhz. Even if the RAM can go at 1866Mhz this will be overclocking to the memory controller. So I asked if it is so, that I did not understand why would Bios S21T function normally. Then this was their response.

Due to refinements and additional features in BIOS updates sometimes unsupported functions such as overclocking may not work the same or require the setting of an option that was previously hidden or was automatically adjusted before. Due to an older BIOS will support your overclock but newer ones will not this may be what is happening. Sometimes, due to the limited storage space for the BIOS some features can be dropped to allow room for other options to be added."

So I guess it is wat it is. I'll just stick with the older S21T for now since everything is fine.

playboyer did you load a previously saved BIOS profile after flashing your BIOS? NEVER do that. Remove your CMOS batt for 20 mins with power removed, then re-enter ALL your BIOS settings manually. Immediately after flashing your BIOS you should "save" all 8 BIOS profiles to overwrite whatever is there bc if you load one you will screw up your BIOS settings completely, and you cannot recover from this by merely manually resetting your BIOS settings.

The other thing is when you update BIOSes it is a well known issue that you have to re-do your OC, your previous settings will not always work.

I'm gonna try moving up to a newer bios than the S21T that works fine at 1866mhz. Anyone have this same issue?

For some reason after updating to Bios 73, my computer would crash upon running a stress test and even the 3dmark Vantage CPU test. I'm using OCZ Platinum 1866mhz. I kept messing with the bios settings and still no luck. But if I set the clocks back to 1600 and below it runs perfect. Even rolled back to 59, 51 and 49 and It still would BSOD on me. So i reverted back to my original S21T and now it's perfectly fine. Yes I followed the proper instructions on flashig and clearing the cmos and loading default settings.

je m'exprime en français , j'ai pas vraiment envie de me prendre la tête avec la traduction ( au pire je ferai un google traduction )

je possède une EVGA X58 Classifed 3-Way E760

aucun soucis avec elle , jusqu'à ce fameux bios 44

ce bios plus que merdeux grâce auquel nous devons la limitation

de fréquence mémoire a 1333 Mhz !

le comble , c'est que ce fameux bios est décrit comme correctif mémoire 1866Mhz !!

justement c'est la fréquence a laquelle mes mémoires fonctionnent ...

ou devrais-je dire " fonctionnait " ...

on nous demande de patienter , résultat 2 bios plus tard ( 59-64 )

toujours aucune correction d'appliqué ...

j'ai bien tenter de joindre le support mail d'EVGA mais 2 des 3 responsables Europe ne me répondent pas ...

le 3em me demande d'adresser ma réclamation en français !

j'y crois pas , un support européen incapable de communiquer en

français !! mais woaw , on croirai que la France est un pays a négliger !

hi guys.. i'm using the 1j bios and everything is on stock with a 920 d0 cpu. the problem i'm having is when the pc go to sleep mode the temps get to 60c.. normally its just 38 to 40 but once in sleep mode .boooom reach 60.. does anyone know what the problem is?

Stay where you are. What problems showed up in this bios also shows up in 49. 1J is where I would stay if I were you.

Anyone using the new 49 bios yet? I have the S61J from 11/25/09 and wondering if I should try 49 bios. I have my 975 at 4.602 with HT off and last night I was able to pass 5 Linx runs on All memory, but forgot to save settings, now I can't get it to pass again. i was using 1.425 Vcore, +25- Vtt and 1.3 IOH with 1.70 Vram

hi Guys. I've luckly read the whole 5 pages and desided to put the J bios on my mobo. I've Overclock my 920 D0 to 4.4Ghz last night. its 100 stable with 1.45 vcore. Is there anything i can do it to run cooler. Is there any expert who would like to spear sometime with me. can add me on msn or yahoo jafarhk@hotmail.com . My bios is as below

Windows 7 Action Center error. As you can see it says does not support my i7 920.

I just wanted to say thank you to all who posted info in this thread. I waited till last night to flash BIOS 44. Not reading the forums first like I usually do thinking over one month from when its out would be ok. Wrong again

I know it was my mistake but a serious memory clock issue that they are having they should be pulling the 44 BIOS off the website. I tried all the new switches you all suggested to get the Mem Frequency back to normal but to no avail. Then I just decided to revert to S61J. The auto settings no longer work and I had to manually configure everything. I have everything running but if someone could guide me through some settings to make sure I am ok that would be awesome.

Are there any additional mirrors for the x58 BIOS? I haven't been able to download directly from the download page for a few weeks now. Simply times out every time, regardless of which BIOS are selected (modern or legacy..).

Clicking the link on page 1 of this very thread simply times out.

Generally speaking a bios effects more than one version of board...........takes time.

Yo! For me is this the best bios ever, i'v got 6x2GB CorsairDominator 2000Mhz Cas8 but the 2:14 didn't work for me so i use the 2:12. I am running my memory on 1720Mhz and got my timmings on 7-7-7-21-56-2T, my cpu in cpu-z on 4.42GHz.

I lied, just went back to bios J

you should read this topic ! long story short use B bios for the best OC or H / J bioses that are fine too. 44 isn't for you.

The really odd thing about it: the Vantage score drop was almost entirely due to a 15% lower score on GPU; the CPU score was fairly close between 44 vs. J BIOSes. I double checked that the QPI link setting was correct in E-Leet, and everything else seemed to be set the same, so I'm at a loss to explain why this is so.

I was getting about a 15% lower score in Vantage with 44, but thought it was the newer Catalyst drivers for my Radeon cards. Turns out rolling back to the 61J BIOS brought the Vantage score back to its expected level.

This was with all the exact same settings, and Turbo Performance was disabled when I tested 44 as it screwed up my memory speed.

Definitely sticking with 61J for now.

Provided you aren't affected by any issues that were addressed in later BIOSes, it doesn't matter.
