I tried the oven fix and it worked on two evga 8800 gts video cards I had. one 512MB card of my brothers and an older 312MB card I had in another computer that died.

It was actually my brothers old computer that he gave to me when my Toshiba qosmio x505-q830 died. I doubt it's still under warranty since the card was purchased a long while ago but I'll see what I can find and I'll also try out that baking technique.

Welcome to the forums..Yeah, the card died..As to why, who knows, could be many things but those cards were notorious for the solder on the PCB cracking..If it's under warranty, RMA it..If it's not under warranty you can try baking it like this to reflow any solder cracks that might exist and hope for the best..If you bake it do it with the GPU side up not down.

[So I'm stumped.

Earlier today I had a bsod during windows 7 start up w/ a nvlddmkm.sys error. after it I turned the computer off and attempted to turn it back on the video would not post. Only by taking out one of the video cards would any video post and testing each video card I found that only one would post video.

Does this mean that this one video card finally just all out died? and anyone have any clue as to why a video card working fine at one moment would all of the sudden not function w/ out warning?

before this error I had recently updated the graphics drivers to 301.42 and had successfully played deus ex human revolution w/ no problems.

hardware setup:
geforce 8800gts 512mb x2 in sli *currently only able to run one of them
amd athlon 64 x2 5000+ 2.61GHz
4GB ocz DDR2-800
asus m2n-sli deluxe mobo
