I just put my GTX 670 FTW in last night (3rd RMA), started up BF3, and it worked fine for a bit... Then it started "hitching" occasionally, with the sound getting jumbled for like 1 second. (sounded like the transformer sound mentioned above). The stuttering got worse. Eventually it crashed. Was using 301.42 WHQL drivers.

Ugh.

Sorry bro, I hate hearing about people with multiple RMA's. It either makes me extremely lucky or my lucks about to run out on EVGA cards. I just got a 670 FTW to replace a 570 and both ran flawlessly. Was customer service at least kind to you?

I always exclude the HD-Audio drivers from installing themselves on any NVidia drivers. Creative sound cards don't like fighting other audio cards when they run. You gotta make sure they're the only output enabled/available.

You don't have a Creative sound card by any chance, do you?

Talked to EVGA yesterday and they said to try uninstalling the Nvidia sound driver. This worked for over 3 hrs last night and an hr this morning. At the end of 3 hrs last night I did get the RED screen just be for I was logging off. I hope it was an isolated incident. This is the longest I have been able to play BF3 sence installing the 680.
I love getting 75-120 FPS on ULTRA.

My previous post was back when I was still running the 570, and I assumed it was an OC related issue.

I am now running the latest WHQL's 301.42. Have not had a single crash yet. *knock on wood*, only crashed once when I was doing a 1400+ MHz OC by accident. I am, however stable at 1310 MHz which is very satisfactory for me.

I honestly would think 301.42's would be the better choice here until they release the new ones in a couple of weeks.

Ive only had a BF3 driver crash once with my 670. If it happens again i might try rolling back.

Apprantly the new drivers (due this month) will also fix vsync stuttering issues. I've not experienced said issue myself but a new driver would be welcomed to fix the BF3 crash

Agreed. 301.42 is garbage and causes BF3 to crash after an undetermined amount of time (generally 5-15 minutes). I rolled back to 301.34 (the last beta) and all has been fine. I am eagerly awaiting the new driver this month.

yeah try an older driver as BF3 always crashes for me with 301.42 GTX680 after 20 mins gameplay, sometimes less, sometimes more than that. Every other game is 100% stable its just BF3 and 301.42

I have tried 3 drivers now and I still get the same problem. I was using this driver with the 580 and I had 0 problems. I even tried this morning to reduce the clocks down to stock and it still crashed. Oh and my card is not responding to Precision X for setting a certain FPS, it does'nt matter what I set it on I'm getting way above that. If I did not have this problem I would not complain at all I love the FPS I get for the few min it does work. I'm getting like 75+ on Ultra at 1920x1200.

Hi i was crashing in battlefield 3 as well using 301.42 WHQL drivers. The error reported that it was the nvidia driver causing the issue (NVWFG.dll or somthing like that). I went back to 301.24 beta and no crashes at all.

I am using GTX680 SC Signiture running 1262 boost clock and 6508 memory.

so in short its a driver issue with 301.42 WHQL.

I still cant play the game as it crashes and kicks me to desktop and I get 0 errors or warnings. This sucks I hope it is a driver issue. I have tried the 301.42 and 301.32 no change. I have also changed the settings in game and it does not matter it just crashes or lockes up and I have to restart. Oh and the vram showing is 3105 and that seems high to me. My sys spec are wrong I just boutght a EVGA 680 GTX SC everything was running fine with my rebuild for a week with my 580 waiting for the 680 to become available. The first time I ran the 680 in game it crashes.

That's odd I've never had bf3 crash since getting my 680, I've even done a reformat and still no issues.

EDIT-Damn, I still crashed while checking out Crysis 2 on max. Wasn't paying attention to the temperatures this time...

I just got the card (superclocked version) today and started a few games. BF3, Saints row the third, shogun 2 and they all crashed to desktop (with a black screen) 5-10 minutes into the games(amazing crash considering it sounded like a movie's Transformer shouting).

The temps were all at 78 c right on the crash.

Got the precision X tool and started a stress test, I kept an eye on the temperature and it remained at about 60-68. I noticed the fan percentage speed keeping up with the temps at 1:1 ratio most of the time. Fired a game and played a full round of BF3, while still looking at temps, which remained stable at 60c.

Closed precision x and went to Shogun 2, a few minutes in, crashed again. 78 c again. Just tried it with Precision x and had no problems at all.

I can't say 100% sure as I wasn't looking , but when it crashed the fan must have not be keeping up with the temperatures. I don't remember the fan working as hard as it is at the moment when it went down, but maybe I wasn't paying attention.

Of course, not going to say that having Precision X is necessary for everyone, this is what I experienced, it could be completely different for others.

Thanks Heavy! Did not hear about this .Been flawless for me till now.Did a install over .24 so my PhysX is intact .For me in BF3 this driver has been solid since the day it was released/leaked.

Be aware that the 301.32 is a CUDA developer driver and if you attempt a clean install with it, you will have to install PhysX separately as it is not contained in the driver package. Also, the driver is from an older branch than the current 301.24 driver. A few have reported issues trying to remove the driver to install other versions. Just be aware of some of the issues.

I don't even see .32 on evga or nvidia. I think he's talking about this 301.24 which is the beta drivers from April 12. You can find that here http://www.evga.com/support/download/

I can now confirm that drivers 301.32 fix the BF3 lockup issue.
I have been playing for a couple hours straight without a hitch.
Same goes for Crysis 1
Have yet to try out Skyrim

Does Windows Event Log show anything useful? If you plug the 580, or any other card for that matter, does the game still crash?

The answer could simply be, you need a RMA for the 680.
