When I get home from work, I am going to create a profile that increases the fan speed when I the temps start the rise instead of leaving it on "AUTO". I agree, that the cooler you keep the card, the better it is probably going to preform and it will probably last longer.
Re:Air cooled tempatures (matt561)

There is a high temp thread here, 80+ is more of a performance hindrance at stock clocks then really damaging. Case temps have a large effect on the card temps also.

http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=1557609
Re:Air cooled tempatures (Moorepheus)

I am going to adjust my fan profile. I don't know what my idle temps are, but I am sure they are not as low as people are stating here, I want to say 40c-50c. Also, I left my fan profile set to Auto, so when bf3 is running, i am up to 80c and never higher.

Also, is there some kind of documentation some where that states that between 80 and 90c is really hot for these cards using stock cooling? I say this, because for 5 years I have had my ATI card, it always was a 90-92c running any game and I never had a problem with it. (well, until last week and it died). I have heard that 100c is the KILLER for video cards, but I don't know. I thought 80c while in game was pretty good.
Re:Air cooled tempatures (matt561)

Jumped up my card to 1202, temps barley went up, this card is a beast.
Re:Air cooled tempatures (EliteOrion)

Mine idles 27c-29c and under load with 65% fan between 54c - 61c
Re:Air cooled tempatures (matt561)

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c98gIxCe1zo
Wouldn't that be more for your sound card? About 70-75C full load without a custom fan profile. With a custom fan profile in evga precision, around 68-70C at load, again without OC. Fan runs at like 65% max and it's just a little bit louder than the rest of my system. If I keep it under 60% it's about the same volume as everything else, which is pretty damn quiet for such a powerful card.
Re:Air cooled tempatures (cipher_nemo)

matt561
oh ok on the over clock, boy I love graphs.

Bingo. :-) On the above stock speeds since stock is what, 1006 MHz, right?
Re:Air cooled tempatures (matt561)

oh ok on the over clock, boy I love graphs.
Re:Air cooled tempatures (cipher_nemo)

matt561
Doesn't the gpu throttle down when its over 70?

Nnukx
Nope.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_680/30.html

Re:Air cooled tempatures (matt561)

Good to know, still won't near it though lol
Re:Air cooled tempatures (Nnukx)

 Nope.
Re:Air cooled tempatures (matt561)

Doesn't the gpu throttle down when its over 70?
Re:Air cooled tempatures (matt561)

 ROFL
Re:Air cooled tempatures (cipher_nemo)

Real memes never die, they just get retooled...

Somebody set up us the heat.
Main A/C turn on.
All your clock are belong to us.
Re:Air cooled tempatures (matt561)

80+ is very hot, I would turn your fan up or use the auto to keep it below 70.
Re:Air cooled tempatures (Nnukx)

Idle 33-34*C, 79-80*C in Battlefield 3 and 84*C after 10 min in Furmark.
