EVGA could make a competing card similar to the Galaxy one, both in air cooled and liquid cooled form. I'd never buy a Galaxy card, but their single-slot air-cooled model is a one-up of their competition.

Technically it is possible, but challenging... Currently the HC design is shared with the SC Signature design.

I just had to post this thread to unite people who want single slot. Hopefully it will be possible. Hint, steal Apples tech and use mini dvi to dvi converters! Also, unstack that power connector.
