Personally I switched to super thick IC Diamond since then, that stuff last extremely long ... but seems to do something to CPU's surface, it never looks the same after using that. leaves some kind of residue...

The diamonds in ICD etch into the IHS and wear away at it. That is likely what you are seeing. Over time it will wear away all of the markings on the IHS surface and voids your warranty since it can no longer be identified.

yeah, in deed, you are right man. after 1-2 years of using ICD my Q9450 looked like it was gently lapped. I could still see the markings and read them at angle, but they were barely visible when looking straight at the surface (e.g. I was unable to take readable photo of them).

if I needed one I'd get it now hehe, can't beat the price LOL!

I still have a syringe of MX-2 in the drawer, but I stopped using it after I noticed it got cooked after only 3 months of heavy overclocking, stress testing and benching my Q9450 on air in past.

Yep it is great TIM, I much prefer it over ICD, even if it costs me 2C because it doesn't eff up my gear like ICD does.

As stated it is pretty good TIM! Also as Elite stated, it is pretty thin.

However it still does a superior job when compared to "run of the mill" thermal paste. If a person changes heat sinks, cpu's, or builds several systems a year this just can't be beat.

I have. Pretty darned good. I use it all the time. Although it's alittle "runnier" than I like.. But I guess I'm used to super-thick IC Diamond.
