(ctguy1955)

   I bought my 1584 3 gig 580 on 11-29-11 because I thought they
would be coming out with the 680 in January so I could use the
step up program to get the new card. Now I look on their site
and only the 1580 was able to be in the step up, not my card ?

I was 4 weeks too late anyway, and paid the same money
for an end of the line technology as this new 680 is.

I guess they timed the release pretty good so as not to
have to do too many upgrades.

I see jerks selling the 680 online for 628 on amazon when
evga set the price at 499. Even newegg has em for 499.
Only thing I dont like was its a KG and not a AR, so does that mean
you dont get a lifetime warranty ???? Ill keep my 580 then, and look
to buy another for SLI mode. You can NEVER keep up with computers !!!
Re:step-up from 580 classy to 680? It has been too great of a card to get rid of. It runs stable at 1 GHz, cooler at this frequency than my regular 580s run at 850 MHz, and has the 3GB of memory. The only downside I can see is the higher power consumption.

I wish I could keep mine as well, but I really need to offset the cost of the card. Also need to get EVGA's Waterblock for it still. Also it would just end up sitting around doing nothing anyways. Also the Warranty on this card will be transferable when the changes happen, so another good selling point.
Re:step-up from 580 classy to 680? Plus I game at 1080p, so the VRAM should be no issue. I'll get an EK, DD, or Aquacomputer block for it when they are made. Owning a Classy card is great and all, but I never really did much with it.
Re:step-up from 580 classy to 680? Although I bought my 580 Classy Ultra not long ago and still have like 71 days on the step up.
So I have some time to decide. The only thing I find meh is the 2GB of ramm, I heavily mod games, and for instance Skyrim I get to 61% memory usage on a single 1920x1080 monitor setup with my classy. And I doubt I'm done with adding mods to it lol.

Would be nice to see, in time, a 680 with more ramm added to the step up lineup. I gotta have the new card...don't I? ;) Besides, I play at 1920x1280 on BF3 on a single 27" monitor anyways. And the 3yr warranty is no issue. I have 42 days left on stepup but we all know the only 680 listed is the one thats there now. And when the Non-reference and/or WC models come out I can always sell it and use the $$ towards getting one. And also I didnt pay for this 580 Classy, It was a gift and I was given the receipt so i'm only paying $31 for shipping on my 680 so when I sell my vanilla 680 to get the non-ref card I'll just pay the difference.
