But i played Everquest 2, Lord of the Rings online and Conan for a bit. It just seems like the production values were so incredibly low it was just hard to play. Not to mention the complete lack of players on the server at a given time.

Thats why im looking forward to guild wars 2. It will have a large audience and is slightly more singleplayer focused if you so wish it to be.
Re:gamespot.com crew play guildwars 2 beta this weekend, this is their "2 cents" (Kamarad)

phades

Kamarad

kidcrumb

shaneduce

Well it will be free 2 play.

No. And thank god. You still have to buy the game but there is no monthly fee.

Full F2P games all really suck. They are annoying cause they just make it hard to play without spending money.

Wow, way to stroke all F2P games the same way. It would be better to say that "most" F2P games implement the system incorrectly and poorly. I am currently playing Tribes Ascend which is a F2P system which implements it correctly and I love the game.

I would call those "F2P" games that implement the system wrong "paid power" games. However, not all of them do it like that.

I dunno if i would call it correctly, but after you sink in a few weeks of playtime you might have 1 competitive loadout ready. Also, if you were to buy in your items only, you would be dropping more cash on the game than a regular off the shelf title. The first guild wars, in a sense, wasn't any different only executed differently. In the process, it arguably trained the user to play "wrong" for competitive play. In that respect, T:A isn't that much different, but it at least offeres all the base formats initially (so far).

Even paying for gold will only unlock things for you. You still have to play and get EXP through your performance before you can upgrade that stuff (Tribes Ascend). Yea, you can double EXP it, but it still takes a bit of time.

Fair enough, maybe implementing it "better" is a...lol...better way of saying it.
Re:gamespot.com crew play guildwars 2 beta this weekend, this is their "2 cents" (phades)

Kamarad

kidcrumb

shaneduce

Well it will be free 2 play.

No. And thank god.
