I want to use more standard enterprise frameworks rather than something which seems to have a more rapid release/depreciation cycle for now. I've used OpenBSD and FreeBSD in the past to host servers but as they are the management of daemons needs a bit more work. I've got a couple of Ubuntu server installs here on my virtualized server farm but I hardly use those for anything more than teaching Linux to others remotely. At least I know if they mess anything up it won't affect my servers as they are since it is running on this workstation.
Re:why so empty (quadlatte)

yeah i get the whole pruning thing, it used to be when they did that your post count would go backwards, i wonder how many post some would have if that never happened

i would like to see more linux discussion, there are so many distro's and flavors it's hard to keep up with them all.
i was trying different ones for my home server because i would really like to go back to using linux instead of BSD but i just could not find one that had the packages and ease of use as FreeNAS has.
Re:why so empty (James_L)

The threads still exist. Just use the search to find them. There are even threads from the previous version of the forum you can find through that also.
Re:why so empty (pagelm)

default display is 30 days. The forum should still have the posts older than that. Should be an option near the bottom of your screen.

I have several notes I need to refer back to on here sometime soon, so I hope the threads still exist:P
Re:why so empty (david12857)

I agree with scaryone. It's the least visited section. There's only 100 Topics and 849 Posts total. Multi-Monitor Discussion is the runner up with 117 Topics and 1581 Posts. Crunching@EVGA is only a couple months old and has 171 Topics and 3960 Posts.

Windows pwns for gaming. A lot of the Distributed Computing Folding@home guys use Linux but only because it folds better than Windows, is very reliable and of course it's free! They have copy & paste instructions for everything and they resolve problems in their section of the forum.

I'm still running Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop and Server. They've been around for a while and run great so there's not much to discuss. I'm looking forward to 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin in a couple months & I would like to see more dicussions.

Re:why so empty (James_L)

There isn't much activity here and the forum auto prunes after a certain date I think.

Not a lot of discussion here as there are forums specific to each distro out there and the information is readily available.

Also I think a lot here have more experience with the Windows OS than specific GNU/Linux distributions. There are quite a few of us that do but generally I don't frequent here a lot these days.
why so empty (quadlatte)

why do all the threads here seem to disappear in a very short time???
