7/9/2009 6:04:47 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : Blazen22: My biggest question is why is there no hardware-accelerated voice chat involved with Ventrilo? A : We are currently working with several VOIP companies for VOIP offload

7/9/2009 6:06:50 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : Blazen22 How many applications can I control with Bandwidth utility? A : In the next release, we will support up to 1000 simultaneous BW-limited connections - enough for most gamers and then some.

7/9/2009 6:07:06 PM bigfoot_ben   Stay tuned for more on VOIP in upcoming releases.

7/9/2009 6:07:50 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : Blazen22 Have you tested the Xeno pro with Aion: The Tower of Eternity? A : We have - it looks good with 5.0.2.0 drives.

7/9/2009 6:07:54 PM bigfoot_ben   drivers

7/9/2009 6:08:30 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : Blazen22: Will the Bigfoot Hardware Firewall corrupt or tamper with my current antivirus firewall? A : No - however, there is no real reason to run a SW firewall with our firewall enabled...just slowing you down!

7/9/2009 6:08:58 PM Bigfoot_Ethan   Q : HuangYiChao Will the Xeno Pro improve my gaming framerate? If so does it scale more with SLI or Tri-SLI? A : The Xeno offloads UDP data to the NPU (network processing unit) to free up cycles on the CPU and GPU. This means during instense network load, the CPU has to work less to handle all the traffic.

7/9/2009 6:09:39 PM Bigfoot_Ethan   Even with SLi, there are the same number of cycles and interrupts, so the amount of graphics processing power doesn't make a difference

7/9/2009 6:09:50 PM Bigfoot_Ethan   it can still see benefit from the Xeno

7/9/2009 6:10:13 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : bomberboysk How many percent average can you expect the xeno pro to improve ping? A : Kind of a trick question - ping usually implies ICMP...because ICMP gets such low priority, ping is not really accelerated. Your UDP network traffic will see the most benefit.

7/9/2009 6:11:09 PM Bigfoot_Ethan   Q : tech3399 How do get the Xeno Pro to best perform? Any tweaks or settings we can do? A : The Xeno is optimized to work directly out of the box, but there are some tweaks on the TCP side of gaming that get more specific with your modem and ISP

7/9/2009 6:11:37 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : bomberboysk: Is there a noticeable increase in performance/latency with the killer xeno pro? A : There certainly is! There are several independent, third-party performance analyses of an array of different games, and we come out pretty well!

7/9/2009 6:11:52 PM Bigfoot_Ethan   The tweaking guide is located here: http://www.bigfootnetworks.com/killerforums/showthread.php?t=2344

7/9/2009 6:12:48 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : bomberboysk: Does the killer xeno help with mutiple stream downloads, such as torrents(for legal ones, like linux and etc) and download accelerators? A : Yes! In fact, the more you are doing with your machine, the more benefit we provide. Look for hardware-accelerated bit torrent in the near future, too.

7/9/2009 6:12:52 PM Bigfoot_Ethan   Q : Blazen22 Why isnt there any cooling accessories on the Xeno Pro? A : Mostly because they are just not necessary. The tech on the card is efficient enough to not require cooling other than standard airflow

7/9/2009 6:13:42 PM Bigfoot_Ethan   Q : Blazen22: Will the Ultra be the same size, to save space? A : It is the same size PCB board, but it does have the "Bling Bar" attached with the LED features, which makes it a little longer.

7/9/2009 6:13:58 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : Blazen22 Is the Npu really being used to its fullest? I would imagine it would get hot without any cooling solution... A : Great question - the power dissipation of the NPU is such that no external cooling is required...we selected the core for that reason.

7/9/2009 6:14:42 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : DraginElite: Does the Xeno Pro support Teaming as in Will it work in conjunction with anouther Xeno for even faster communications? A : We have a lot of technology in this area, and although I cannot say much...look for this sort of thing more often from us in the near future,

7/9/2009 6:15:26 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : bomberboys: This is not directly at the killer xeno pro, but does bigfoot networks plan on releasing other hardware, such as a gaming router? A : Our technology certainly applies well in the router space...although I cannot confirm current development, I would not rule it out, either :-)

7/9/2009 6:15:27 PM Bigfoot_Ethan   Q : tech3399: The Xeno Pro works well, but what online games and scenarios will I really see the best results? A : The best results come from times in game with a heavy workload. If you're just standing in a field in WoW, you won't see much benefit because there's not much to offload. But once you get into a 60-man raid, there is intense networking going on, which the CPU now does not have to handle, and can dedicate more power to the other aspects of the game

7/9/2009 6:16:13 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : Blazen22 Is Bigfoot working with any game developers to completely take apart everything and get the most performance out of that particular game? A : We do have some game developers that are integrating our technology into upcoming releases...stay tunned.

7/9/2009 6:16:40 PM Bigfoot_Ethan   Q : bomberboysk How many percent average can you expect the xeno pro to improve ping? A : There's really no set number here, it all depends on the game's design and your machine. We've seen decreases in ping of 5ms in some games, and 60 in others.

7/9/2009 6:16:42 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : Blazen22 Why doesnt the Xeno pro come with a case badge? ;[ A : I will take that to marketing!

7/9/2009 6:17:07 PM EVGATech_JacobF   It actually does come with a case badge :) It comes with a red Mods Rigs case badge! :)

7/9/2009 6:17:36 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : Blazen22: Will the Killer Xeno Ultra be coming around soon? A : Can't announce yet...but stay tuned!

7/9/2009 6:19:52 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : L33t Masta: Do you guys plan on releasing a wireless version of your cards in the near future? A : Quite a bit of our technology would really help in a laptop environment, and we really want to reach all our gamers...wait, no comment ;-)

7/9/2009 6:20:42 PM Bigfoot_Ethan   Q : bomberboysk: Do you have a list of all currently accelerated programs? A : Really it's universal with games. As long as the game utilizes UDP protocol, it can be offloaded. Even if a game utilized TCP, there are still some benefits such as checksum offloading and the different tweaks to improve latency.

7/9/2009 6:21:33 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : DraginElite: "should" someone decide to add aftermarket cooling for the card could it in esence work better? A : Nope - it's well within specs, even in really hot environments.

7/9/2009 6:22:09 PM Bigfoot_Ethan   Q : DraginElite: "should" someone decide to add aftermarket cooling for the card could it in esence work better? A : The Xeno never really gets hot enough to impact performance, so cooling it down would not really improve performance. It might look cool, though.

7/9/2009 6:24:02 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : HuangYiChao: Can I overclock the Xeno Pro A : We plan to release a development kit for Xeno, and allowing tweaking of this sort is not out of the realm of possibility for such apps.

7/9/2009 6:24:22 PM Bigfoot_Ethan   Q : Blazen22: How much will a gaming server help out traffic with an Xeno Pro serving multiple clients? A : The Xeno controls local functionality only - it bypasses the Windows network stack to improve latency and offloads data from your own CPU, so other systems would be unaffected.

7/9/2009 6:25:22 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : bomberboysk: In a less than well ventilated case, how much would the heat output of the killer xeno pro impact ambient case temperatures? A : Hard to answer without more info about your environment...The only info I can give is that we need to dissipate about 2-3W

7/9/2009 6:27:03 PM EVGATech_JacobF   Ok guys, we are wrapping this up now, any last questions please post them!

7/9/2009 6:27:41 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : HuangYiChao: How much NPU does it offload from the CPU? A : Not sure what you mean here. The NPU accelerates game traffic through our hardware, and avoids some of the worst parts of the windows stack...is that what you mean?

7/9/2009 6:28:20 PM Bigfoot_Ethan   Q : L33t Masta: Will you have Windows 7 drivers available upon release? A : Yes, Windows 7 drivers are currently being tested and plan to be released to coincide with Windows 7 launch.

7/9/2009 6:28:47 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : tech3399 How do get the Xeno Pro to best perform? Any tweaks or settings we can do? A : It performs very well out of the box. The only caveats would be to be careful with bandwidth control...too low == badforhead

7/9/2009 6:29:38 PM Bigfoot_Ethan   Q : HuangYiChao: Would the Xeno Pro increase my download speed? I have a mac that can download up to 1000kb/s but on my desktop pc I can only download up to 600 KB/s, so would the Xeno increase it over the limit? A : Unfortunately not. The Xeno is designed to improve latency and gaming - it won't have an impact on how much bandwidth can be pushed from your ISP - save the fact that it's a gigabit card, which can handle more than a 10/100

7/9/2009 6:29:40 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : L33t Masta: Will all current Xeno cards be Windows 7 compatible? A : yes

7/9/2009 6:31:06 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : HuangYiChao: Does the Xeno Pro offload work from the CPU 100% or just partial? A : We accelerate 100% of network traffic - significantly more for game traffic...is that your question?

7/9/2009 6:31:33 PM Bigfoot_Ethan   Q : Blazen22: How many nubs can I pwn with it? A : ALL OF THEM.

7/9/2009 6:31:36 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : Blazen22: How many nubs can I pwn with it? A : 3 shloads.

7/9/2009 6:32:15 PM bigfoot_ben   Q : MSim Do you have any ETA on apps for the Xeno Pro? A : First ones will be part of the any-day-now 5.0.2.0 release.
