04/16/2009 6:05:09 PM EVGA_Marketing
ok guys we are going to switch to moderated mode, be ready to ask questions ... give these guys a challenge on their technology

04/16/2009 6:05:30 PM MotionDSP_Mike
Not to mention it can run super-fast if you've got an EVGA NVIDIA GPU in your system

04/16/2009 6:05:37 PM EVGA_Marketing
We are in moderated Mode now, please send your questions

04/16/2009 6:05:41 PM Blazen22
Motion DSP cleans up the photo and videos to make it crystal clear, but does it stabilize the video when the person filming moves or makes a fast gesture?

04/16/2009 6:06:06 PM MotionDSP_Mike
Hi, Blazen, thanks for the question.

04/16/2009 6:06:36 PM MotionDSP_Mike
Just be clear, vReveal is expressly for enhancing video, not photos (although we do a really nice image-capture from enhanced videos)

04/16/2009 6:06:51 PM MotionDSP_Mike
And stabilization is one of our most raved-about features

04/16/2009 6:07:19 PM MotionDSP_Mike
It does a great job of making things rock-steady when there's lots of hand-shake

04/16/2009 6:07:47 PM Sparky007
What are the main GPU factors affecting performance, i.e. if I have two CUDA cards, which will help it most to run faster, increased video RAM or a faster GPU clock?

04/16/2009 6:07:50 PM MotionDSP_Mike
You should try it out for yourself! Free trial at www.vreveal.com

04/16/2009 6:08:21 PM MotionDSP_Mike
Sorry, let me ninja that url: http://www.vreveal.com

04/16/2009 6:08:55 PM MotionDSP_Nikola
You'll get the most GPU performance from a card with many cores and high clock.

04/16/2009 6:09:51 PM MotionDSP_Nikola
vReveal doesn't use more than one card in the system (for now) -- CUDA works in a different way from SLI, where you're likely to use both cards at the same time

04/16/2009 6:10:02 PM Blazen22
Is there any support for Windows7, or will this product be supported for Windows7?

04/16/2009 6:10:11 PM MotionDSP_Mike
Performance chart for some GPUs: http://vreveal.com/gpu

04/16/2009 6:11:10 PM MotionDSP_Mike
vReveal is mostly compatible with Windows 7 (works really well on 32-bit), but we won't officially support Win7 until it's commercially available.

04/16/2009 6:11:34 PM Davabled
I saw a screenshot on your website where you cleaned up a photo of some books so that the titles could be read... I guess I don't understand how software could 'add in' stuff that's not in the original photo?

04/16/2009 6:12:35 PM MotionDSP_Mike
That example with the books that you saw is actually a screenshot captured from a video before and after it was enhanced.

04/16/2009 6:13:10 PM MotionDSP_Mike
The technology that allows us to reconstruct each frame of a video with more detail is called super-resolution, which is based on multi-frame analysis.

04/16/2009 6:14:07 PM MotionDSP_Mike
For each frame in a video, our algorithms look at the information in the surrounding frames to reconstruct the first frame with even more detail.

04/16/2009 6:14:29 PM MotionDSP_Mike
There's a more thorough explanation of this really powerful tech at http://vreveal.com/technology

04/16/2009 6:15:11 PM MotionDSP_Mike
And vReveal is the only consumer app that has it . It's the kind of thing behind the amazing video enhancements you see in shows like CSI

04/16/2009 6:15:59 PM EVGATech_JacobF
Davabled thats a great question can you send me an email at jacobf@evga.com for a free copy of Vreveal.

04/16/2009 6:16:13 PM Skydive
In it's current form, your software supports up to 720P. Do you have plans to expand the supported resolutions to 1080P or higher?

04/16/2009 6:16:46 PM EVGA_Marketing
Blazen22 - I would like to give you an EVGA T-Shirt... please email jacobf@evga.com your shirt size and address

04/16/2009 6:17:23 PM MSim
Will vReveal work on computers that have Nvidia Integrated Graphics?

04/16/2009 6:18:12 PM EVGA_Marketing
Everyone, please make sure you direct your questions to ALL

04/16/2009 6:18:28 PM EVGA_Marketing
This way everyone will see the questions. Thanks

04/16/2009 6:18:32 PM MotionDSP_Mike
Hi, Skydive, thanks for the question.

04/16/2009 6:19:17 PM MotionDSP_Mike
Right now, vReveal can apply its special enhancements like cleaning (noise removal and detail improvement) and stabilization to videos with a vertical resolution up to 576p.

04/16/2009 6:19:34 PM EVGA_Marketing
Some good questions guys. Keep them coming

04/16/2009 6:19:55 PM MotionDSP_Mike
We are planning on an "HD" version that would let you enhance HD resolutions (720p and higher).

04/16/2009 6:20:21 PM MotionDSP_Nikola
vReveal will work on any PC (even if you have integrated NVIDIA card, or ATI card), but to take advantage of awesome GPU processing speed, you need to get NVIDIA card that's 8-series or newer

04/16/2009 6:22:02 PM MotionDSP_Nikola
If your hardware supports CUDA, vRveal will use it to improve performance

04/16/2009 6:22:37 PM MotionDSP_Mike
Here's more information about which NVIDIA GPUs are CUDA-compatible, including mobile chips: http://www.nvidia.com/object/cuda_learn_products.html

04/16/2009 6:23:28 PM Skydive
Does vReveal take advantage of the extra memory available through 64-bit systems or will it in the future?

04/16/2009 6:25:30 PM MotionDSP_Nikola
We don't do it now, but we will in the future - extra memory might be needed only for very high resolutions (like fixing HD)

04/16/2009 6:25:46 PM touche
If using GPU acceleration, does vReveal process solely on the GPU? In other words, will vReveal use the CPU significantly if using GPU acceleration?

04/16/2009 6:26:42 PM MotionDSP_Nikola
All the hard work (i.e. video enhancement) will happen on a GPU (if you have a compatible card)

04/16/2009 6:27:08 PM shift_nismo
Does vReveal output to .flv?

04/16/2009 6:27:10 PM MotionDSP_Nikola
there are some tasks still handled by CPU (like decoding and encoding), so CPU will be used a bit

04/16/2009 6:27:45 PM MotionDSP_Nikola
on i7, CPU utilization is <10% when processing on a GPU

04/16/2009 6:27:53 PM MotionDSP_Mike
No, vReveal does not export to Flash (FLV)

04/16/2009 6:28:07 PM Pistolkilla
What is the future support of Vreal going to be like, Plugins ect...?

04/16/2009 6:28:14 PM MotionDSP_Mike
Although you can upload straight to YouTube.

04/16/2009 6:29:32 PM MotionDSP_Mike
Regarding our future plans for plugins, etc., we do have plans to work as seamlessly as possible with other video apps and hardware.

04/16/2009 6:29:45 PM Pistolkilla
Can you enhance multiple videos at the same time with Vreal? How does if effect the performance.

04/16/2009 6:31:06 PM MotionDSP_Mike
Absolutely, vReveal can easily enhance videos in a batch. It will render the enhancements to the videos sequentially, so there's no hit to performance.

04/16/2009 6:31:16 PM punx223
if your card does not support CUDA how big of a performance hit will you take in the performance of the software?

04/16/2009 6:32:16 PM MotionDSP_Mike
The nice thing about vReveal is that it doesn't need a GPU to run. It can run on your Windows XP or Vista machine with just your CPU.

04/16/2009 6:32:43 PM MotionDSP_Mike
But you do have potentially a tremendous increase in performance when you do have a CUDA-enabled GPU in your system.

04/16/2009 6:33:25 PM MotionDSP_Mike
If you'd like to get a relative idea of performance for vReveal on CPU-only systems vs. GPU systems, you can check out this chart: http://vreveal.com/gpu

04/16/2009 6:33:45 PM Skydive
After looking at the web site and the capabilities of the vReveal software, I noticed that 8800 series GPUs for the most part are not supported. Are more recent GPUs supported on your software? (such at the GTX 295)

04/16/2009 6:35:00 PM MotionDSP_Nikola
Most of GPU cards from 8000, 9000 and 200 series are supported.

04/16/2009 6:35:38 PM MotionDSP_Nikola
Only some of earliest 8000-series GPUs are not supporeted, but will be in the next update (coming soon)

04/16/2009 6:36:01 PM EVGATech_JacobF
Good question, Skydive can you send me an email at jacobf@evga.com

04/16/2009 6:36:15 PM Pistolkilla
What video formats does vReal support?

04/16/2009 6:37:34 PM MotionDSP_Mike
Pistolkilla, vReveal can import .AVI, .MPG, .ASF, .WMV by default. With QuickTime installed on your system, vReveal can also play .MOV, MPEG 4, and .3GP files. Plus, it can leverage any codec packs on your system (like K-Lite) to open even more formats.

04/16/2009 6:37:44 PM PCurry
Considering the parasitic relationship between technology and civil rights (2007 CSI received a Big Brother Award) do you get many inquiries about privacy, data and technology?

04/16/2009 6:39:42 PM SAMSAMHA
any chance that we'll see it coming to the mac platform?

04/16/2009 6:39:50 PM MotionDSP_Mike
Nope, we don't get many privacy inquiries. Especially since the software doesn't really gather private user data aside from YouTube credentials.

04/16/2009 6:40:50 PM MotionDSP_Mike
Samsamha, we have no plans for Mac at this point. But Nikola, who is our VP Engineering, uses Boot Camp to use vReveal on his MacBook Pro.

04/16/2009 6:41:09 PM Blackhawk4
You said you were planning on coming out with an HD version. It would be just 720p and or 1080p be correct?

04/16/2009 6:43:18 PM MotionDSP_Mike
On the output side, vReveal can already output to 720p. On the input side, vReveal "HD" would introduce the ability to enhance videos up to 1080p. (As I mentioned earlier, right now you can enhance everything up to a vertical rez of 576p.)

04/16/2009 6:43:36 PM Pistolkilla
Thanks again for hosting this chat. How does this software handle both Audio/Video syncing. As well as antialiasing?

04/16/2009 6:45:25 PM MotionDSP_Nikola
On Audio/Video synching: we leave original audio-video sync intact. On antialiasing -- that's one of the strongest points of vReveal, being able to improve aliased video.

04/16/2009 6:45:43 PM Pistolkilla
Has Vreal been tested with Workstation style video cards? (Quadro)

04/16/2009 6:47:27 PM MotionDSP_Mike
vReveal works with all CUDA-compatible Quadro cards (except a couple of the very first models, and that support is coming in our next update), which you can see listed here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/cuda_learn_products.html

04/16/2009 6:47:34 PM Pistolkilla
Does vReal have any special filters like, Sepia , Black & White, Negetive, ect...?

04/16/2009 6:49:17 PM MotionDSP_Mike
You can easily get sepia, black & white, and negative effects by moving the "color" sliders in vReveal's fine-tuning controls.

04/16/2009 6:49:21 PM shift_nismo
Does youtube re-encode the file? If so, is there a major quality loss?

04/16/2009 6:51:14 PM MotionDSP_Nikola
Good question on re-transcoding: there is some quality loss everytime you re-encode, but if YouTube clip is watched in High Quality or HD, the improved version should still look way better then the original

04/16/2009 6:51:31 PM Skydive
Aside from the obvious benefits of vReveal's easy ability to correct video and audio problems, do you envision it being positioned against a non-linear editor like Premiere?

04/16/2009 6:51:52 PM EVGATech_JacobF
shift_nismo can you send an email to jacobf@evga.com for the good question

04/16/2009 6:53:18 PM MotionDSP_Mike
Hi, Skydive, since vReveal is focused on enhancements and has simple editing features (trim, rotate), it's an excellent complement to movie-authoring software like Premiere.

04/16/2009 6:53:35 PM EVGA_Marketing
We have a few more questions and then we will let everyone a chance to thank the vReveal team for joining our chat.

04/16/2009 6:54:07 PM MotionDSP_Mike
Especially since vReveal has enhancements capabilities (detail improvement, increasing real resolution, high-powered stabilization, noise removal) that you can't do in any other video app.

04/16/2009 6:54:49 PM SAMSAMHA
does the software simply offload all of work to the gpu or it still requires some cpu power (for the cards that supports cuda)? is it multi-threaded to take the advantge of the multi-core cpu?

04/16/2009 6:56:03 PM MotionDSP_Nikola
If GPU processing is turned on, all enhancement happens on a GPU. CPU is used only for decoding and encoding. When run on a CPU, vReveal it's fully multithread.

04/16/2009 6:56:21 PM russianhaxor
Are there any notable special effects that can be added to a movie with vReal? Im aware that this program can do alot of cleaning, what about adding effects?

04/16/2009 6:57:33 PM MotionDSP_Mike
Hi, Russian, aside from what I mentioned earlier about tweaking the color controls to get sepia, black&white, and negative effects, at the moment vReveal is focused on enhancing video, not adding effects.

04/16/2009 6:57:55 PM Firerx
Does this require SLI configuration to use , or can a single GPU user benefit from the software?

04/16/2009 6:58:27 PM MotionDSP_Nikola
vRveal needs just one (CUDA enabled) GPU. SLI is not supported.

04/16/2009 6:58:33 PM EVGA_Marketing
This the last question, we will go to an open forum for everyone to some final comments for the MotionDSP team. Thank you again and we look forward to our next chat.

04/16/2009 6:58:42 PM Blackhawk4
Will SLI be supported

04/16/2009 6:58:47 PM EVGA_Marketing
We are in an open forum now

04/16/2009 6:58:49 PM Pistolkilla
