This "claim" is incorrect. Following this procedure, I get video crash - i.e. black screen 'death' (BS) although the cpu, hard drives etc keep running - even trying to update my computer's performance score in Windows 7 Home 64-bit ! There are a number of other applications that cause the 'black screen' death, may be also sometimes at random happening. I have tried the procedure with "clean install" in Safe Mode applying first Driver Sweeper with 258.59, 260.89 and now 260.99 drivers.
My system: Intel Quadcore 9300, ASUS P5E motherboard, 4 GB Kingston DDR2 RAM @1066, Adaptec 2120S SCSI controller and 4 scsi drives, a recent Corsair HX620 Power Supply, Hitachi CM769ET 19" Monitor, and EVGA GTX 460 model 1370 Bios 70.04.13.00.76 .
The BS is happening sometimes by software triggered interrupt conflict, but could be also hardware related interrupt conflict. Strangely, I checked the ASUS forum on GTX 460-470-480. But this problem has not been mentioned by anyone.
My present hunch is that it is specific for the EVGA nVidia 460 card, and it is possible that it is a hardware fault. I will be contacting EVGA for support also after trying a number of checks why no one in others forum have struck this.
