GTX 480, are these still solid cards? Wednesday, April 25, 2012 5:54 PM (permalink)
Okay so about a month and half ago...GTX 480's came popping up at retailers like Amazon and Newegg...except with the KR suffix at the end...in other words, 3 year warranty instead of the lifetime....but they are pretty much the same card as far as I could tell...they are priced very attractively at $209 shipped

Do you guys think two 480's in SLI still packs a solid punch in today's world?  $420 shipped for two high end cards sound tempting...but the problem is, the heat and the noise

Now I do have a HAF X case with extra fans all around...If I do get the 480's, I plan to keep them stock, no WC involved...have the 480's been revised to run cooler and more efficient than before?  Also another question, does a 480 at 772 core and 2004 memory = stock 580?

Any info on this subject would be greatly appreciated...I have no experience with the 480...I just heard it was loud and hot and generally not worth it at full price :(
