Will RAID array transfer from 3x sli to ftw3? Wednesday, March 21, 2012 8:18 AM (permalink)
I currently have a 132-BL-E758-A1. I would like to upgrade to a 132-GT-E768-KR.
Will the intel RAID array "just work" on the new board's intel SATA controller?
 Thanks!

The OS won't care since the chipsets are the same so you will probably be ok there. As for the RAID itself, it should work fine if you use the SATA II ports for the raid since I believe the 768 uses the same controller as the 758.  But there is a chance it wont and will have to do a clean install so do a full backup before you try this.

If you are upgrading to use the two SATA III ports in raid you are likely to run into issues and are better off using the easy transfer to back up your data and user profile then do a clean install.

Thanks, I don't plan to use the sata3. I just wanted to know if the controller was the same. I run linux & occasionally boot into windows to play a game - I am prepared to reinstall windows if I have to but the linux (gentoo) should be as simple a kernel recompile.

Moving a RAID volume to a different system
The hard drive members of a RAID volume can be moved to another system and the data on that RAID volume can then be accessed. This may be necessary in the event of a motherboard failure.
        Requirements
The new system must support the following:
        • Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (in other words, RAID)
        • the same type of RAID volume

I swapped over from an Asus P6X58-E WS to the FTW3. My raid-0 was recognized with zero issues.

Got my FTW3 today. The move was a breeze. Not even a kernel recompile was necessary. :)

Haven't booted into windows yet... But I really don't expect any issues there either.

Nice! Glad you didn't run into any issues.   Because both boards are pratically the same as far as chipsets are concerned, I'll bet your audio and lan are untouched as well.

The only thing you should need to do is load drivers for the SATA III ports/Marvell controller that the E768 has, if you ever plan on using them.
