GTX590 Multi-monitor question Monday, February 27, 2012 8:31 PM (permalink)
I have an EVGA GTX 590 and Two 22" monitors.
I'm thinking about Purchasing Three 24" monitors to replace the ones I have now.
My question is , Will my Single GTX 590 handle 3 monitors? Will it handle 4?

What you you mean by "handle"?  If you're expecting max detail in as smooth frame rates as you want, hard to say because you didn't tell us what you expect.  But GTX590 has three DVI ports, so it was certainly meant for any three displays that use DVI-- that said the primary variable is preference.  nVidia makes no promises for what you expect versus what they give you.

At the very least, tell us the games you're thinking of and what detail level you'd like.  I don't multi-monitor, but there are plenty that will give you an idea of what is realistic and sacrifices required to make it work.
How CPU watts relate to degrees? - How can overclocking affect CPU lifespan? - TEC/Peltier definitions, formulas and temperature estimations

For Intel processors, 0.123 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].  This includes around 30% overhead, so it isn't minimum for operation.  TDP is not actual per CPU, it is a range for multiple processors to qualify for the same OEM cooler and power rating, and allows Intel to debut future processors in the same TDP.

When I said 'handle' I meant Whether or not it will function. Sorry I wasn't clear, I try and make things as short as possible when posting on these forums, otherwise people just read the last sentence and reply with something completely off topic.
        malVizio answered my question, thanks.

Actually, the 590 is able to support up to 4 monitors with SLI disabled.  It can support up to 3 monitors in Surround, or just two monitors with SLI enabled.

SLI cannot do 4, 3 is the max. Eyefinity can do 4. I am running 3, 23" Dell SP2309W's. Total resolution of 6484 x 1152 off of 2 580's in Surround, SLI enabled. I can play all but the most demanding games at their highest settings with 30 - 60+ fps, depending on the game. For the most part, running any AA with that res is just too much for it but, for some games you can.

              BF3, Ultra settings
Batman, High settings, lots of Physx going on.
Any COD on the highest settings
GTA IV all the way up. All sliders maxed
Metro 2033, very high, no AA

From what I have been told (by EVGA tech) is that if I want to run my games at this resolution with the same settings as I did in a single monitor set up, I need more VRAM. Go for 3gb cards and you should be all good. As of now I need to tone it down because of the 1.5gb limitation of my current cards.

              Hope that helps. ;)

So are you running 3 monitors with a GTX590, and having BF3 on Ultra settings?

                  How is your game play?

i currently have 2 x GTX590's (that would be 4 cards in total), and still unable to get smooth gameplay from BF3 or Farcry 3 over three monitors, i'm sure this is to do with the VRAM but any way around this?

                  Cheers,
