Enjoy!
Re:SSD and SATAII & III Question (xpclassified)

K thanks alot.. some raid controllers can go prety high... i guess ill stick with my mobo SATA II and just Raid 2 of this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233193
Re:SSD and SATAII & III Question (HeThing)

xpclassified

Im planning to get 2 of this and raid 0 them. Since it says interface SATA III, will it run in my mobo since i dont have SATA III or it will run in SATA II aswell?

Sata is both backward and forward compatible.. so you can easily use 2 sata3 SSDs in your sata2 motherboard.

xpclassified

Another question is it better to get a Raidcontroller card so i could used the full potention of the SSD or change my MOBO to one that has a SATA III? thanks

It depends on the controller your motherboard uses. It also depends on the SSDs.
Most motherboard controllers (based on sata2) can handle up to 600mb of data per second (600mb/s).
Readspeeds of SSDs vary a lot from SSD to SSD.
I have 5x 80gb Intel X25-M G2 SSDs.. they have readspeeds around 250MB/s each.. newer SSDs are even better. Im not using a dedicated RAID controller as I can't afford one atm. They are quite expensive.
Since my motherboard is limited at 600MB/s it is clear that Im not taking advantage of the 5 SSDs fully potential. At 600MB/s apps are loading pretty fast compared to a mechanical drive!

Unless you plan to get more SSDs I wouldn't spend money on a dedicated RAID-controller. It depends on your needs ofcause.. if you are setting up a professional rig you might want one but if you are dealing with a regular gaming computer I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a RAID-controller.
A simple way to find out if you want a dedicated RAID-controller is:
1. Install your RAID-SSD setup.
2. What do you think of it. Is it fast enough? If yes, then stop the algorithm. If no, then proceed to step 3.
3. Look at the RAID-controller pricing.
4. Still want one? If no, then stop the algorithm and enjoy your rig as it is :D if yes, reconsider step 2.
Re:SSD and SATAII & III Question (buggyruth)

You will also will get good speeds with sata-2 but not what the drives claim, only on sata-3. Just a heads up!
Re:SSD and SATAII & III Question (doorules)

All sata lll drives are backwards compatible with sata 11 ports. Not an issue.

What is an issue will be your mobo. Without native sata lll you would be best to use the intel sata ll ports rather than any third party controllers.
SSD and SATAII & III Question (xpclassified)

Im planning to get 2 of this and raid 0 them.
