just picked up a shiny new 580 to replace my ageing and failing 275.

however whenever windows tries to boot, the screen blanks out and the system restarts.

when installing this card i did a fresh w7 install, updated, installed the MB drivers (evga z68sli, not sure if i've updated my rig yet, i'll check that immediately after this post), then installed the Nvid drivers (285.66 on the disk with my new card).

i've tried older drivers, beta drivers.... none of it works, my 275 when plugged back in works fine(well, as fine as its worked since skyrim half fried it, meaning no bsod, but lots of artifacts)

i've connected the 580 to a separate PS in case i was over loading the 12v rail, and that doesn't help either

the BSOD is a 1033 with a BCCode of 116

anyone have any ideas of other things to try?

all clocks are stock, reset bios to default
